Howwillyoumakeanimpact?

Students will be matched to projects based on their abilities and current business needs. All projects will have significant strategic and/or operating importance to the business to which they are assigned.

Projects may include the following responsibilities:

  • Module integration of charged particle optics, high voltage power supplies, ultra-high vacuum, gas deposition chemistry, image detectors, robotic wafer handling, electro-mechanical and pneumatics modules, controlled with automation software.
  • Exploring sophisticated technology, crafting clear problem statements, analyzing pertinent data, deriving insights from scientific models, and devising a roadmap for future actions.
  • Applying design of experiments (DoE) and statistical process control (SPC) engineering tools to understand sources of variation and develop process controls.


  • Partner with leadership to identify and address areas to improve efficiency and benchmark with industry best practices.
  • Become a process owner; critically review specific processes with great attention to detail and proactively recommend opportunities for improvement.
  • Learn continuous improvement methodologies (i.e., PPI, Six Sigma, and others) and help promote improvement initiatives.
  • Participate on cross functional project teams to develop new products and present engineering design and analysis results at technical reviews.
  • Develop Solid Works solid models that achieve design requirements using best design practices and industry design standards. Create detailed technical product drawings and customer product specification drawings utilizing GD&T standards. Complete engineering change requests and BOM updates.
  • Support design analysis activities by conducting tolerance stack-up analyses and design verification testing. Make arithmetic computations using standard formulas, calculate dimensions, and tolerances.
  • Work collaboratively with other functions including Business Development, Quality, Operations, Technical Services, and/or Marketing in the commercialization of new products.

Compensation & Relocation: Our Graduate Engineering co-ops offer an hourly rate between $21.50 - $34 dependent upon the location you are supporting (aligned to respective cost-of-living guidelines). Additionally, a relocation stipend is offered in the amount of $5,000 if necessary. Student must be located 50+ miles away from the physical location of co-op to be eligible for the relocation stipend.

  • Candidates are enrolled in a Master's degree program in Engineering, Science, Technology, or Math with a plan to finish during or after this internship
  • Strong analytical perspective with the ability to demonstrate practical decision making and problem solving.
  • Curiosity, creativity, and self-motivation to learn new technology.
  • Demonstrated ability and curiosity about applying systems engineering principles and science-based innovation to a wide range of multi-discipline engineering problems.
  • Excellent interpersonal communication skills with a high degree of emotional intelligence.
