Sr Mfg Equipment Maintenance Technician

Position Summary:

As a Sr Mfg Equipment Maintenance Technician at Thermo Fisher Scientific Inc., you will have the opportunity to work in a world-class facility and play a vital role in maintaining flawless machinery, equipment, plumbing, physical structures, electrical wiring, and lights. Key Responsibilities:

  • Inspect and repair mechanical and electrical equipment, plumbing, physical structures, electrical systems, and lights for defects or malfunctions.
  • Repair and maintain production items using hand tools, air tools, mechanical and electrical tools, following blueprints, manuals, or building codes.
  • Apply your expertise in Programmable Logic Controllers and CNC equipment.
  • Demonstrate basic computer skills in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Power Point.
  • Perform maintenance checks and repairs on all industrial fork trucks, including propane and gasoline systems.
  • Make and repair structures within the plant, such as steel shelving and wooden enclosures, and re-route electrical accesses as required.
  • Implement regular maintenance programs for all plant equipment.
  • Operate Tig, Mig gas, or arc welding equipment and assemble fabricated metal parts.
  • Use industrial trucks to move parts or equipment to other work areas.
  • Maintain specified records and logs of repairs and maintenance activities.
  • Ensure a clean and safe work area.
  • Perform other duties as requested by the supervisor.

Minimum Requirements/Qualifications:

  • Minimum three to five years of work experience with prior technical training in a specialized field and/or work experience in maintenance or a related field.
  • Ability to work independently and make decisions for various quality situations in fabricating and repairing equipment.
  • Knowledge of general maintenance techniques and processes.
  • High School diploma or GED required; equivalent experience will also be considered.
  • Ability to stand, reach, pull, and push.
  • Good eye, hand, and foot coordination.
  • Ability to lift heavy, awkward items or equipment.
  • Knowledge of shop math.
  • Proven troubleshooting skills.
  • Skilled in the use of a variety of electrical and mechanical tools.
  • Forklift and other powered industrial equipment certification preferred.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and electrical schematics.
  • Knowledge of applicable codes.
  • Electrical, HVAC, or contractor certifications or licenses would be a plus.
