The main aim of the Senior Medical Science Liaison (MSL) will be to maintain existing and develop new professional relationships with prominent healthcare providers and key decision makers as they relate to Thermo Fisher / Clinical Next-Generation Sequencing solutions in Oncology.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Scientific Collaborations:
Collaborate with key opinion leaders under the leadership of the North America Head of Medical Affairs to engage in important discussions related to medical/clinical, health economics, and outcomes research. Target audiences for these discussions include healthcare professionals such as physicians, researchers, medical and pharmacy directors and hospital decision-makers.
2. Clinical Support:
Provide support for clinical presentations and meetings with key physicians, pathologists, and oncologists in collaboration with the diverse sales and marketing teams.
3. Sales Clinical Training:
Work with the Head of Scientific Affairs and the Sales Directors to identify and address training needs to improve the team's clinical knowledge.
4. Marketing Support:
Collaborate with the broader global Medical Affairs team to support the Marketing Teams. Assist in the development and review of new clinical reference tools, sales aids, slide decks, and other important and creative resources intended for the field sales teams. Support the setup and execution of Ad Boards, Speaker Trainings, and External Payor Reviews as needed. Assist in preparing medical review materials for national sales meetings, pre-conference meetings, and field sales conference calls.
5. Clinical Expertise:
Stay updated on the clinical literature in Next-Generation Sequencing (NGS), particularly in the fields of pathology and oncology. Educate internal collaborators on changes in the field paradigm. Provide important competitive intelligence information based on key opinion leader and data-driven insights.
6. Investigator-Sponsored Trials:
Lead investigator-sponsored trials/studies and ensure the successful execution and reporting of approved projects. Collaborate with investigators to develop innovative studies that provide evidence that can be used to increase the adoption of Oncomine solutions. Ensure productive partnerships between Thermo Fisher Scientific (TFS) and scientists/clinicians, document project progress and adherence to timelines, results, and contractual obligations.
7. Customer Education:
Design clinical customer education materials to demonstrate the value of rapid molecular testing. Coordinate and deliver lectures on innovative technology and comprehensive solutions at conferences, online webinars, and dedicated customer workshops.
8. Scientific Meetings:
Provide medical affairs coverage at important medical/scientific congresses and cooperative group meetings. Collect and interpret new clinical data and competitive intelligence, reporting findings to medical affairs and marketing collaborators.
9. Collaborations with Pharma and CROs:
Cultivate important relationships with pharmaceutical companies and Contract Research Organizations (CROs) operating in Oncology and collaborate cross-functionally with the Companion Diagnostics (CDx) Team.
10. Relationship Management:
Develop relationships with clinical working groups and associations that support the utilization of TFS solutions.
Minimum Qualifications:
Degree Required: Ph.D., PharmD. or equivalent, with a strong scientific background and validated experience, including publishing peer review articles.
5 years'+ experience within the Life Science, Diagnostics or Oncology space.
Strong interpersonal, analytical, organizational and communication skills are a must.
Preferred Qualifications:
Medical affairs expertise and strong ability to communicate complex data to diverse audiences.
Strong background in molecular oncology, molecular diagnostics, or pathology is desired.
Ability to understand factors driving market access and how clinical evidence can support access decisions will be highly considered.
Experience with leading large research initiatives is an advantage.

Travel: This role requires up to 30-40% travel

Compensation and Benefits
The salary range estimated for this position based in Nevada is $149,500.00-$203,750.00.
