Location/Division-Specific Information
Part of the Laboratory Products Division, the Newport site manufactures a range of laboratory consumables. These products are used in research, diagnostics, production, and clinical settings.
How Will You Make an Impact?
In this role, we are seeking a self-motivated and hard-working colleague who will be responsible for the operation and maintenance of machinery and equipment.
A Day in the Life:
- Ensure that all equipment is maintained in a safe and reliable condition.
- Perform mechanical and/or electrical work within the factory, including tasks required in any value stream unit.
- Assist in the training of other Production Technicians and attend relevant training courses.
- Follow safe working practices at all times, adhering to departmental rules and regulations.
- Set equipment to the required standard to achieve optimal conditions, including cycle times and quality standards.
- Promptly report any issues or foreseeable occurrences likely to cause a breakdown.
- Ensure all relevant procedures are carried out in compliance with the company's conformance to ISO 9001 standards.
Education
- High School Diploma, Secondary Education, Advanced Certificate, or equivalent.
Experience
Required:
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in injection moulding, plastic processing operations, production, lab settings, or a related field.
Preferred:
- Experience in a cGMP or other highly regulated environment.
- Experience working in a clean room environment.
- Experience testing electromechanical systems.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
For an Electrical Bias Technician:
- Experience with automation and assembly equipment.
- Knowledge of servo control systems and programming.
- Proficiency with computer-aided diagnostic equipment for fault location and elimination.
- Experience with plastics machinery, electronics, and control systems.
For a Mechanical Bias Technician:
- Knowledge of hydraulics, pneumatics, and fabrication skills.
- Proficiency in interpreting schematics, data, and technical drawings.
- Basic electrical skills.
