Job Description

Thermo Fisher Scientific Inc. is looking for a Sr. Manufacturing Technician to join our team in Asheville, NC. As a Manufacturing Technician, you will play a crucial role in providing technical support for special processes and assembly operations for current production products. You will have the opportunity to work collaboratively with various teams and individuals across the organization, including hourly line workers, team leads, shift supervisors, quality engineers, R&D, maintenance, and site leadership.

Responsibilities:

  • Resolve production issues and keep production running to support customer requirements until corrective actions can be implemented. Partner with Set-up, Maintenance, Quality, Operators, and other groups as needed to accomplish this.
  • Establish and optimize manufacturing processes, methods, and procedures to assure product conformance, quality, and cost effectiveness.
  • Identify and implement Continuous Improvement projects and/or general improvement projects, applying Lean methodologies and PPI (Practical Process Improvement) tools.
  • Provide technical assistance and expertise to manufacturing in problematic situations, implementing corrective actions, and providing training as the need arises.
  • Evaluate final assemblies after they complete their End of Line test procedure. Inspect units that have passed their testing procedure and give final approval for shipment.

Requirements/Qualifications:

  • Manufacturing experience of 1+ years working in a manufacturing environment with ISO quality standards strongly preferred.
  • Equivalent experience in lieu of a High School diploma or GED will be considered. A 2-year technical degree would be a plus.
  • Knowledgeable in advanced data collection, measuring, analysis, improvement, and control.
  • Excellent prioritization, time management, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite. Working knowledge of BAAN is preferred.
