How will you make an impact?

The Senior Manager's responsibilities are three-fold:

Drive the process to develop and refine strategy and annual plans for the R&D investment portfolio. Demonstrate Program Management standard processes, with the goal of not only delivering products of high quality and value to the organization, plus delivering them within agreed-upon schedule, resources, budget, and scope. Functionally develop a strong team who leads New-Product Introduction (NPI) programs.

Portfolio Management:

  • Partners with and Business Unit (BU) Sr. Director Portfolio & Program Management and Business Segment product management, R&D, marketing and finance leadership to increase the return on R&D investment.
  • Leads review of the portfolio with Business Segment leadership team, drives prioritization, status updates and revenue reporting for all Business Segment New-Product-Introduction (NPI) programs. Facilitates creation, implementation and curation of a NPI program portfolio roadmap, aligned to business strategy.
  • Integral member of leadership team and supplies key information to divisional monthly business reviews and quarterly business reviews to represent functional organization.
  • Represents PPM on NPI Program steering committee, also known as the Product Approval Committee (PAC), working closely with functional and business leadership team members.

Program Management:

  • Leads critical NPI programs from concept through commercial launch. Acts as program champion and head of a cross-functional team; develops bottoms-up plans and proactively leads program risks, to deliver results. Solves problems independently. Acts as information link between core team and leadership; prepares and presents program reviews to PAC as core team leader.
  • Mentors others leading programs in the Business Segment, providing them with high-level context and mentorship.
  • Actively coaches to drive NPI process improvements. Sponsors change initiatives and builds standard processes regarding new product development within the Business.

Functional Management:

Communicates standards of program management role and responsibility, relative to band level. Shares feedback and real-time mentorship regarding performance, as well as creation of personal development plans to improve skills, as needed.

Hires and allocates program management resources.

How will you get here?

Education Requirements:

Bachelor's degree, preferably in the Life Sciences

PMP certification preferred but not required.

Experience:

  • 10+ combined new product development and program management experience, including voice of customer experience activities.
  • 2 plus years of direct people management experience.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Proficient in English language.
  • Work is performed without significant direction and can recommend modifications to overall direction of portfolio or program in order to meet outlined goals and objectives.
  • Resolves problems where analysis may require in depth analysis, as well as innovation.
  • Interacts and establishes strong relationships with core and extended team members, functional managers, senior management, and customers. Navigates global sites and timezones.
  • Able to influence others, gain acceptance in a variety of situations.
  • Develops and delivers presentations different settings.
  • Collects and reviews feedback on processes and continually drives practical improvements.
  • Prior experience with cell biology instrumentation, consumables and reagents is positive.

Compensation and Benefits
The salary range estimated for this position based in California is $143,000.00-$190,600.00.

This position may also be eligible to receive a variable annual bonus based on company, team, and/or individual performance results in accordance with company policy. We offer a comprehensive Total Rewards package that our U.S. colleagues and their families can count on, which includes:
