Job Description

Thermo Fisher Scientific - The Lengnau site is a part of the Drug Substance Division, a world-class contract development and manufacturing organization (CDMO) that is revolutionizing the industry. We are seeking a Sr Manager, Manufacturing Engineering to join our exceptional team in Switzerland. In this role, you will have the opportunity to lead and develop our Manufacturing Engineering (ME) and Process Automation teams, fostering a culture of precise execution and continuous improvement in our processes and products.

As the Sr Manager, Manufacturing Engineering, you will provide engineering guidance and technical support for our manufacturing equipment and processes. You will be responsible for equipment and process system ownership, including automation and automation infrastructure. Your expertise will be invaluable in driving continuous improvement using failure risk management strategies, PPI techniques, and sound engineering principles.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the manufacturing engineering and process automation functions, ensuring product quality and regulatory compliance.
  • Provide technical guidance for new equipment procurement and process calibrations/qualifications.
  • Collaborate and communicate effectively with relevant departments and senior management.
  • Apply exceptional problem-solving skills to address equipment/system failures.
  • Manage engineering risks to minimize production downtime.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives within the function.
  • Lead the process automation engineering function and drive process improvements.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, science, operations, or business (Master's degree preferred).
  • 10+ years of experience in GMP production and leading technical teams.
  • Knowledge and experience in leading process automation teams in a GMP environment.
  • Strong understanding of regulatory requirements and industry guidance.
