Job Description

We are seeking a dynamic Senior Manager of Engineering to join our team in an Oral Solid Dosage (OSD) pharmaceutical environment. The successful candidate will own all aspects utilities, facilities (fit and finish), production maintenance, capital projects, and reliability. The main objective of this role is to transform engineering operations by improving preventive maintenance, work order programs, facilities fit and finish, and increasing equipment and utilities reliability. Additionally, the role entails evaluating the adequacy of existing vendors and suppliers on site and driving ownership and accountability within the engineering department.

A Day in the Life:

Engineering Operations Management

  • Lead all aspects of the day-to-day operations of the engineering department.
  • Develop and implement strategic plans to improve engineering processes and systems.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and industry standards.

Preventive Maintenance and Work Order Programs

  • Design, implement, and enhance preventive maintenance programs to improve equipment uptime and reliability.
  • Development and execution of work order programs to ensure timely and efficient resolution of maintenance issues.

Facilities Fit and Finish

  • Ensure that facilities are maintained to the highest standards of fit and finish.
  • Coordinate with relevant departments to address any facility-related issues and improvements.

Production Maintenance

  • Coordinate maintenance activities to ensure the continuous and efficient operation of production equipment.
  • Implement standard processes in production maintenance to minimize downtime and optimize efficiency.

Capital Projects

  • Own the planning and execution of capital projects, including budgeting, scheduling, and prioritization.
  • Ensure that projects are completed on time, within scope, and within budget.

Reliability Improvement

  • Develop and implement strategies to enhance the reliability of equipment and utilities.
  • Supervise and analyze performance metrics to identify areas for improvement.

Vendor and Supplier Evaluation

  • Evaluate the adequacy and performance of existing vendors and suppliers.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with vendors and suppliers to ensure quality and reliability.

Leadership and Accountability

  • Cultivate a culture of ownership and accountability within the engineering department.
  • Provide leadership, coaching, and development opportunities to engineering team members.

Keys to Success:

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related field; Advanced degree preferred.
  • 10+ years of experience in engineering management within a pharmaceutical, medical deviceor a highly regulated environment; Oral Solid Dosage (OSD) preferred.
  • Proven experience in utilities management, facilities maintenance, production maintenance, capital projects, and reliability engineering.
  • Strong knowledge of regulatory requirements and industry standards.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Proven ability to motivate change and improve engineering processes and systems.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams.
