Job Description

Thermo Fisher Scientific Inc. is seeking a highly qualified and experienced legal professional to join our team as a Sr Manager Corporate Counsel in Melbourne, Australia. In this role, you will have the opportunity to lead and manage a team providing legal support to our ANZ business, collaborating with regional and global teams on a wide range of legal and compliance matters. As a member of the ANZ Leadership Team, you will play a key role in supporting our overall ANZ business strategy while ensuring compliance with law and company policies.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead all aspects of all legal and compliance matters in ANZ, including commercial, competition, governance, IP, litigation, and regulatory issues.
  • Work closely with the ANZ leadership team and regional/global teams on commercial contracts and proposals, providing legal advice on a variety of business issues.
  • Collaborate with regional and global teams to develop and implement a compliance program that aligns with the Company's philosophy and local laws.
  • Interact with business groups and divisions in ANZ on various issues, such as promotional practices and product liabilities.
  • Build and lead a strong legal team.
  • Develop and implement an annual operating plan for ANZ, including staffing and budget management.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor of Law degree from a recognised university/law school.
  • 15+ years of experience as a lawyer in Australia.
  • Experience representing healthcare/life science or other regulated-sector companies.
  • Proven ability to work with major corporations and adopt a variety of legal approaches.
  • Excellent business sense, good judgment, and strong influencing skills.
  • Ability to develop practical processes and drive solutions to completion.
  • Experience in team building and management, with strong communication and organizational change skills.
  • Fluent in spoken and written English.
