Division Specific Information

You will become part of the Global Solutions Team of Field Application Scientists within the Materials and Structural Analysis Division (MSD) of Thermo Fisher Scientific.

How will you make an impact?

Our Global Solutions Team has one, unified goal - to help our customers be successful in their research. We do this primarily by delivering outstanding training and workflow support for our customers with Life Science TEM and SEM systems like the Tundra, Glacios, and Krios, aquilos, Hydra and Arctis. In addition, we also provide technical support to our field service colleagues, marketing, sales, and R&D teams.

What will you do?

  • Champion positive relationships with customers by providing excellent customer service;
  • Conduct on site and remote training sessions and translate customer needs into workable solutions;
  • Facilitate the functional demonstration of newly assembled systems by conducting acceptance tests at the Thermo Fisher Scientific production facility or after installation at customer sites.
  • Serve as a life science cryoEM authority with a focus on cryo tomography;
  • Support R&D, product development, marketing, and sales by lending applications expertise.
  • Travel percentage is estimated to be between 50-75%

How will you get here?

EDUCATION

A Ph.D. in Biological Sciences, Biochemistry, Biophysics or Structural Biology

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE

  • Five years of cryoEM research experience (academic or industry) including sample preparation, data acquisition, data processing, and 3D structure rendering/viewing;
  • Experience with operating high end, CryoTEM autoloader instruments and/or CryoSEM specifically Aquilos, Hydra, and Arctis.
  • A strong publication record or validated ways of communicating science and technical information to both experience and novice audiences.
  • Mentoring or teaching experience in a classroom or laboratory setting.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities

  • Excellent teammate that can also work well independently and remote;
  • Dedicated and motivated to find opportunities for improvement;
  • Strong communication and inter-cultural skills;
  • Experience interacting with customers, service engineers, product marketing managers, and or R&D.

Compensation and Benefits
The salary range estimated for this position based in Oregon is $93,800.00-$140,675.00.
