The Mechatronics, Thermal & Dynamics Engineering team is one of the Competence & Technology departments of TEM Solutions, the Research and Development organization for Transmission Electron Microscopes (TEM). This group is committed to develop breakthrough technologies, modules and software that enable us to deliver innovative TEM microscopes for our demanding markets and customers.

With the ongoing developments in physics and industry the requirements for performance of these TEM microscopes are continuously growing. Aligning well with the Advanced Technology Department and several strategic collaboration partners, in our TEM Solutions department we are striving to convert the most promising technological concepts into real products - with the purpose to enable our customers to make the world cleaner, healthier and safer!

The Position

As Sr Dynamics Engineer you will join an enthusiastic and driven team responsible for the dynamical aspects of high-tech electron-microscope modules and sub-systems.

In your project you can see your designs grow from a conceptual idea to a finished product for our customers. Your challenge will be to find solutions for technological sophisticated problems, meeting the needs of all relevant parties, combining short term goals with long term needs. The position will allow you to grow both in technical as in business skills! We will challenge you to get the best out of yourself.

You will report directly to the group manager of the Mechatronics, Thermal and Dynamics team within the TEM Solution R&D organization.

Key Responsibilities

In this role you will have the following key responsibilities:

  • Generate dynamical designs meeting the extreme dynamic performance requirements for reaching the ultimate performance of our TEM's with respect to resolution and image quality
  • Create models of modules and systems that can properly predict the dynamic performance
  • Set dynamic requirements across all TEM's developments
  • Investigate and optimize dynamic performance on systems using troubleshooting and modeling techniques
  • Design, analyze and test mechanical (sub)systems on dynamic performance
  • Collaborate with a team of engineers covering multiple competences (mechanical, electrical, software, dynamics)

Qualifications

A successful candidate possesses the following combination of education and experience:

  • University Master, PhD Degree or equivalent in mechanical/dynamical engineering.
  • Shown experience of at least 5 years in developing mechatronic (sub-)systems in the high-tech or equivalent industry sector focusing on dynamic performance
  • Experience in applied mechanics, FEM and material constitutive behavior.
  • Experience with software tools such as Matlab, UX and ANSYS.
