The job:

This role, reporting to the VP/General Manager of the Drug Product Division EU-APAC, is a passionate, visible, and critical leadership position that will lead our Condo (customer-owned assets) and CMO businesses at our fill & finish manufacturing facility in Swindon (UK). The site is currently ramping up significantly following considerable investments over the last few years. As Sr Director / General Manager, you will play an integral role in expanding the business while fulfilling the demand on behalf of our customer base. You will strategically deploy internal capabilities to deliver strong results, using a combination of acute awareness of external market forces and a deep understanding of our customers' needs. You will lead change across the site and the network, identifying processes improvement opportunities and delivering solutions to such challenges.

The role will be based at our Swindon (UK) site, with the flexibility to work from home 1 day per week. Some international travel may be required - up to 10% per annum - including overnight stays.

What will you do?

  • Lead the Condo & CMO Businesses and Operations on site, with full responsibility for the P&L
  • Develop and drive the acquisition of new business by actively expanding services to current clients, along with the onboarding of new clients into the Thermo Fisher network
  • Find opportunities and drive actions aligned with the strategy of the Drug Product Division, which will deliver the short and long-term performance to exceed the business plan, accelerate growth, improve margins, and drive down working capital needs
  • Coordinate and lead important new product introductions
  • Ensure perfect execution of CAPEX projects (including strategic ones such as the start-up of new manufacturing departments)
  • Take ownership for delivering products on time and with the right quality in compliance with regulatory requirements
  • Work effectively with operational, business, and other functional leaders to develop and effectively deploy a shared site vision & approach
  • Drive (cultural) change through controlled execution initiatives across all functions that are required to deliver expected results (critical metrics, timelines)
  • Leverage complementary strengths and develops successful teams; ensure scalable talent in key positions; ensure key capabilities are developed or acquired; recruit and retain best-in-class talent
  • Be a problem-identifier and solver; recognize a wide range of early warning signals in the business, which allows and/or requires a proactive approach to problem prevention

Who we are looking for:

  • Bachelor's degree in chemistry, pharmaceutical science, chemical engineering or similar scientific field required, with an advanced degree or MBA preferred
  • Biopharmaceutical General Manager / Site Management experience required, preferably in a fill & finish business
  • Demonstrated track record in successfully leading Operations, new product introductions and scale-ups in a regulated environment
  • Financial competence in identifying the levers that drive revenue and profit margins at the site and business unit level
  • Strong executive presence and ability to interact with senior teams/managers in a matrix environment
  • Faculty to maximise the network to drive improvements and ensure all relevant partners are involved and aligned
  • Impactful and accountable leadership experience in diverse, constantly evolving environments with demonstrated success in delivering strong operational results
  • Consistent track record in building up and developing strong teams
  • Transformational skills with a shown success in driving dynamic organizational and cultural change in manufacturing environments
  • Proactive focus on identifying & solving problems, process improvements and operational excellence
  • Advanced level of English
