Site Specialist - Laboratory Technician
Location: Bern, Switzerland
For our newly acquired business, we are looking for 2 full-time Site Specialists - Laboratory Technicians to join our team.
Job Summary:
At our labs in Bern, we collaborate with a renowned pharmaceutical company. We provide standard and custom buffers and media for their product development. We also handle shipping and receiving of goods and biological samples, and manage chemical procurement through our ERP system.

Key Responsibilities:
- Performing customer service activities, which may include order entry, expediting, call resolution, return goods authorization, processing backorders, vendor and customer interaction, and problem resolution.
- Ensuring a sufficient amount of chemicals (solid and liquid) of the highest quality are available, via the customer and/or Thermo Fisher inventory management system.
- Ensuring that chemicals are stored according to safety requirements.
- Measuring/weighing chemicals, dissolving them in aqueous or organic solvents; adjusting volume, pH, conductivity, and other parameters.
- Performing simple analytical tests to confirm suitability for use; disposing of waste products.
- Filtering and aliquoting buffers and solutions into suitable final containers.
- Ensuring that suitable and sufficient containers are available (autoclaved, depyrogenated, if required).
- Taking retaining samples before/after filtration.
- Labeling vessels, final containers according to GSP/GxP, safety, and other regulatory requirements.
- Autoclaving buffers or solutions in final containers ranging from 10ml to 20L.
- Ensuring a minimum stock is always available at defined points of use (centrally and decentrally), also by delivering them.
- Handling a variety of vessels and final containers, typically laboratory glass containers, single-use bags, bagtainers, plastic flasks, and HPLC glass containers.
- Sample logistics: Handling and aliquoting samples based on information provided by the customer.
- Performing stockroom duties, including receiving, put-away, stock rotation, detailed cycle counts, detailed replenishments, and other functions according to customer requirements.

Keys to Success:
- Federal certificate of competence (CFC) for laboratory technicians & biomedical analysis technician ES (or comparable training).
- Experience: Preferably 1-2 years of experience in a laboratory facility or laboratory service, especially in chemistry/biology.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:
- Proven customer service skills and the ability to handle a wide range of duties.
- Ability to lift, push, and pull 30-40 pounds consistently; may be required to lift up to 50 pounds, including using pushcarts, pallet jacks, forklifts, etc.
- Ability to work independently at a customer location.
- Strong dedication and eagerness to acquire new skills.
- Excellent knowledge of German and good knowledge of English.
