What will you do?

Use inventory/order management electronic systems to perform the following activities: on-site program replenishments and disbursements, receiving, put-away, stock rotation, cycle counts, order entry and expediting, customer service call resolution, product returns, and backorder processing.

  • Perform laboratory services such as order delivery, glassware processing, biological waste processing, chemical inventory receipt/reconciliation, and media preparation
  • Work within computer systems to access and follow standard operating procedures
  • Proactively communicate with the supervisor any customer concerns and/or potential problems
  • Effectively address customer concerns within established resolution timeframes.
  • Engage in process improvement activities
  • May perform other responsibilities as assigned by management.
  • Promotes personal growth and development by staying abreast of new policies and improvements without the presence of site trainer and management team.
  • Collaborate with other colleagues to accomplish departmental goals.
  • Embraces Practical Process Improvement (PPI) methodologies.
  • Deliver dock to lab delivery

How will you get here?

Education

High school diploma or equivalent required.

Experience

1 + years of related experience within a laboratory setting is preferred.

1+ years of inventory management experience preferred, not required

1 + years of experience working in customer service is also a plus.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities

  • Experience in laboratory setting or services preferred
  • Able to read, write, and speak English fluently
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, and desire to deliver excellent customer service. This includes maintaining a professional appearance and demeanor in all interactions and upholding Thermo Fisher Scientific's values.
  • Possesses a strong desire to serve the customer, and the interpersonal skills to collaborate with various levels of personnel at the customer site.
  • Must possess operating skills to use handheld scanners to enter data in various systems as needed; as well as analytical skills to reconcile reports.
  • Demonstrates computer proficiency and possesses intermediate skills in Microsoft Office suite of software. Uses interpersonal skills to multi-task and meet due dates as needed.

Physical Requirements / Work Environment

  • Works primarily at customer sites, which may require independent work at the customer locations. Work areas may include spaces where chemical-based allergens are in use (such as penicillin, tetracycline, etc)
  • Depending on the area of the building, personal protective equipment may be worn, including lab coats, coveralls, hoods, facemasks, hairnets, safety gloves, steel-toe shoes, bump hats, and/or safety glasses.
  • Requires the ability to lift, push, and pull 30-40 pounds consistently; may be required to lift 50 pounds occasionally and this will require a two person lift.
  • Regularly required to stand or walk for prolonged periods.
  • Works primarily at customer locations, in office environment to include cubicles and/or in and around shipping/receiving docks, stock rooms, storage locations and laboratory environments. The ability to work independently at customer location.
  • Ability to work overtime, as needed.
