The Automation group is one of the pillars of the Research and Development organization for High-End Transmission Electron Microscopes (TEM). This group is committed to develop groundbreaking technologies and software that enable us to deliver world class TEM microscopes for our demanding markets and customers.

With the ongoing developments in physics and industry the requirements for optical performance of these TEM microscopes are continuously growing. Aligning well with Advanced Technology Development and several selected collaborating partners this group is striving to convert the most promising technological concepts into real products for creating and guiding electron beams for imaging with near-perfect optical performance.

How will you make an impact?

As a Sr SQA Engineer Transmission Electron Microscopy, you will be part of an enthusiastic multi-disciplinary team. You will be responsible for software and system testing from concepts towards introduction in the factory.

Objective of this team is to improve ease-of-use for our customers and performance of the Electron Microscope (throughput, repeatability, image quality etc.) through all kind of system automation. The automation is achieved through (complex) algorithms.

You will work closely together with other subject areas such as system engineering, customer service and operations.

The team is also responsible for maintenance, continuous improvements and collaboration with other software development teams. The developments are done in multi-disciplinary teams across multiple sites in Europe and the US.

Software development and testing takes place in an agile environment where the safe framework is applied. You will contribute to sprint reviews, sprint retrospectives and sprint planning. You will have a lot of freedom in this role and work in a highly innovative setting. The cool part is that you can test your developed Software in real-time on our products.

Responsibilities

In this position you will have dual responsibilities. About half of your time will be spent working closely with software development teams. In this role you will focus on test automation. You will create automated software tests and help the development teams creating automated tests at system level.

Next to this you will have responsibilities to align testing, including test documentation, test execution, test automation, test reporting, etc. across the Automation group. You will work with architects, technical leads, test engineers, and product owners to align testing and test strategies between different teams located at different locations.

You are responsible to align test strategy, test architecture and test plans across the automation group. The group consists of teams in our offices in Eindhoven, Netherlands and Brno, Czech Republic.

To accomplish this is essential to also build extensive knowledge of Transmission Electron Microscopes. You shall build experience using and operating a microscope and be able to manually or automated complete tests on a test system with R&D.

Specific (SQA) responsibilities are:

  • Review requirements, User stories and assess risks.
  • Write test plans including planning estimations.
  • Review integration testing and feature delivery.
  • Write test specs, implement automatic test scripts, and review test specs of colleagues.
  • Execute test cases, analyzing test results and write test reports.
  • Report test progress and provide an independent and substantiated release advice.
  • Initiate and support product quality improvements.
  • Lead test activates at software and system level.
  • Align testing and test automation across the group, across sites.
  • Design and implement automated and manual test cases
  • Plan, manage and coordinate sprint-based test automation team activities via the backlog
  • Provide technical leadership, direction and hands-on assistance to other members of the team
  • Act as the entry point for system level test automation related issues
  • Identify and follow-up on opportunities to improve
  • Mentors other test engineers in test automation methodologies and alignment to overall testing strategy
  • Identify issues / bottlenecks in the infrastructure domain of the test environment

Specific Requirements:

  • Agile attitude

  • Experience with tool chain that includes Jira, Git, Jenkins
  • Good understanding of test processes, methodologies and standards, preferably underpinned by an ISTQB certification.

  • Strong communication and management skills.
  • Well-structured way of working.

Position Requirements:

The successful candidate will possess the following combination of education and experience:

  • Technical master's or bachelor's degree (e.g. Software Engineering, Computer Science or Electronic Engineering, Applied Physics).
  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in test design and testing of complex multidisciplinary (hardware/software) systems.
  • Experience with different testing techniques, functional and nonfunctional testing and test automation.
  • Experience with quality improvement (processes and products).
