Job Description

Engage in the invaluable opportunity to lead a team of versatile engineers at Thermo Fisher Scientific Inc. as a Senior Manager, Software Engineering in our Environmental and Process Monitoring Business Unit . We are seeking an outstanding individual to join our determined team and assist us in driving innovation and flawless project execution.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate on building high quality application-level software and graphical user interfaces to reduce complicated mathematical problems into simple concepts.
  • Scope projects, develop timelines, and work with program/product management to understand requirements.
  • Accountable for project deliverables, including product quality, and schedule integrity.
  • Lead by example and technical persuasion.
  • Manage numerous projects and deliver predictably and on time results in an Agile environment.
  • Provide technical, process and organizational leadership, staying abreast of software engineering trends.
  • Provide direction, guidance, and coaching to software team members.
  • Establish SMART goals, provide feedback and foster career development.
  • Support agile teams in collaboration, problem solving, decision-making and removing barriers so that teams can deliver high quality, innovative software on time.
  • Develop and sustain relationships with vendors and joint development partners that support and accelerate the team's product development activities.
  • Stay updated with the latest industry trends and integrate proven methodologies into the development process.

Requirements

  • BS in Computer Science, Engineering or Mathematics and a minimum of 10 years of related experience, with a minimum of 5 years as a people manager.
  • Experience in leading projects simultaneously as well managing team members.
  • Agile and/or waterfall methodology experience
  • Genuine curiosity and positive approach to drive innovation
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Facilitative leader who can grow and empower team members
  • Ability to use data and metrics to identify and solve problems and drive continuous improvement
  • Ability to rapidly adapt and respond to changes in environment and priorities
  • Experience with Jira, Confluence and GitHub
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to build trust and influence others
  • Strong strategic skillset with the ability to partner with senior leadership and building roadmaps.
  • Strong teamwork and project management skills with the ability to lead projects in a multi-disciplinary, matrixed environment.
