Location/Division Specific Information

We are a research, development, and production site in Bremen currently, with over 500 employees, and our "high-end" measurement and analysis instruments (mass spectrometers) are used in research and science worldwide. Our innovative products in the fields of Life Sciences MS and Inorganic MS, as well as Trace Elemental Analysis, are among the leading products globally in their respective markets. We are currently seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Electronic Design Engineer to join our dynamic Research & Development team in Bremen. As an expert for innovative electronics, you will play a crucial role in driving innovation and leading the development of new products within an existing platform.

Discover Impactful Work:

To strengthen our agile Life Science R&D department, we are seeking a highly experienced and motivated Senio Electronic Design Engineer who will be responsible for developing electrical circuits for mass spectrometers and peripherals. In this role your focus will be to develop high end electronics for feasibilities and new concepts. For that you will work close together with experienced scientists to plan a feasibility and define specifications for sub-units. You will join a team of experts in an innovative R&D environment, constantly translating new ideas into robust designs. As an Electrical Design Engineer, you will play a crucial role in developing electrical components for the next generation of life science mass spectrometers and their accessories, contributing to a healthier, cleaner, and safer world.

A day in the Life:
  • Design and development of complex electronics (including high frequency and high voltage circuits) in a highly motivated, multinational and interdisciplinary team in Bremen
  • Participation in product development teams and project planning
  • Define and perform measurements for feasibilities and work on concepts to bring this early protypes into production.
  • Installation and test of developed Electronics on mass spectrometers
  • On-the-bench and in-system design verification
  • Simulations and calculation of performance of the proposed design during the concept phase
  • Usage of modern simulation tools to reach the next higher level of performance, efficiency and robustness
  • Coordinate development tasks with external project partners, internal partners, and service providers
Your tasks and responsibilities will be diverse and exciting, with the opportunity to participate in product development projects across multiple sites worldwide.

Keys to Success:

Education
  • University degree in electrical engineering, or related fields
Experience
  • Many years of professional experience of designing analog electronics, preferably including high voltage and/or high frequency electronics
  • Strong scientific background for being well-rounded and capable of independently conducting feasibility studies.
  • Experience in Product Development Practices, Processes and Tools, preferably in the context of sophisticated analytical instruments
  • Experience in low volume, high-value large complex systems such as scientific instrumentation, medical devices, or semiconductor process systems is highly preferred
  • Experience in troubleshooting electronic circuits and in conducting root cause analysis on PCBA and system level
  • Experience in lateral leadership desirable
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities
  • Strong desire to push the limits of science and technology
  • Working cost-conscious, effective, and autonomous
  • Good written and oral communication skills in English language
  • Good communications skills in German or willing to learn German
  • Good knowledge of Windows and Office programs
