Location/Division Specific Information:

Our Early Development team focuses on Phase I and IB trials which represent the first practical tests of a compound's clinical relevance and commercial viability. They are the culmination of years or even decades of research. Moreover, they set the stage for subsequent studies that will ultimately determine your compound's efficacy, safety and positive impact on patient's lives.

Discover Impactful Work:

The Sr Dir CDM provides leadership to data management department and drives the formation and implementation of strategic development plans for data management and allocated clients/projects. Provides strategic direction, leadership and management for assigned team to secure the successful completion of studie. Providess direct supervision, support, training, and mentoring to groups.

A day in the Life:

  • Manages staff at leadership level, which may include interviewing and selection, job description preparation, professional development, goal setting, performance management, coaching and mentoring, employee counseling, and separations. Approves courses of action on salary administration, hiring, corrective action, and terminations. Reviews and approves time records, expense reports, requests for leave, and overtime.
  • Provides strategic and creative leadership to data management department responsible for department budgets, utilization, quality and compliance with company and departmental guidelines and procedures.
  • Supports HR activities for allocated team and department as a whole.
  • Can serve as oversight for additional portfolios.
  • Supports and advocates change in a positive manner.
  • Can facilitate a specialty group globally.
  • Can drive and/or contribute to major cross-functional initiatives and workstreams representing CDM as part of Project Delivery.
  • Acts as senior management liaison for allocated clients and provides governance oversight as contracted.
  • Drives cross department communications and participates in department and company initiatives and strategies.
  • Overall responsible for allocated project deliveries to ensure client satisfaction and to support the organization's revenue growth.
  • Ensures adherence to Company and Department policies and procedures and effectively manages quality and training compliance.
  • Instrumental in bringing new data management business to the organization through bidding activities, attending bid defense meetings and developing dynamic data management strategies.
  • Manages resources and workload across projects with focus on achieving or exceeding utilization targets., proper adherence to timelines and quality standards.

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent and relevant formal academic / vocational qualification
  • Previous experience that provides the knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the job (comparable to 15+ years).
  • 7+ years of management responsibility
  • Advanced leadership skills

In some cases an equivalency, consisting of a combination of appropriate education, training and/or directly related experience, will be considered sufficient for an individual to meet the requirements of the role.

Management Role:

Director role with significantly larger management scope (e.g. global or regional responsibilities or multiple departments) OR mastery of director skills and responsibilities as demonstrated by consistent, multi-year successful performance. Directs through subordinate management. In some instances may be responsible for a functional area (as determined by executive management) and not have subordinate supervisors or employees. May manage employees across multiple regions.

  • Ability to support financial reporting process for projects and department
  • Ability to work on extremely complex problems where analysis requires evaluating various factors
  • Ability to exercise independent judgment in developing methods, techniques and evaluation criteria for obtaining results

  • Excellent communication, presentation and interpersonal skills
  • Excellent risk management and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to prioritize and handle multiple priorities
