We are seeking an energetic and enthusiastic individual with strong communication, leadership, technical and operational skills to join our growing Process Development team.

Job Title: Scientist III - Bioprocess Modeling and Simulation

Location/Division Specific Information: US - Massachusetts - Plainville (on-site)

How will you make an impact?

In Viral Vector Service BioProcess Sciences, we develop, characterize and scale-up bioprocesses for robust manufacture of viral vectors to help our clients deliver lifesaving therapies to patients.

We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled Bioprocess Modeling and Simulation Specialist to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will leverage their expertise in advanced modeling techniques, computational tools, and data analysis to optimize bioprocesses and drive innovative solutions. This role offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to cutting-edge bioprocess development, with a focus on both upstream and downstream applications.

What will you do?

Advanced Modeling and Simulation: Develop and refine chemometric models, chromatography process simulations, and computational fluid dynamics (CFD) models, with a focus on tools like MSTAR CFD, to enhance process understanding and optimization.

Statistical Analysis: Apply robust statistical methodologies to analyze complex datasets, identify trends, and guide decision-making in bioprocess design and control.

Programming and Data Analysis: Utilize Python and R to design algorithms, perform statistical analyses, and implement predictive models for bioprocess optimization.

Molecular Modeling and Bioinformatics: Conduct molecular simulations using tools such as PyMOL and apply bioinformatics approaches to solve complex biological problems.

Cross-functional Collaboration: Work closely with upstream, downstream and analytical development lab teams to integrate modeling insights into experimental design and process improvement.

Data Interpretation and Reporting: Translate complex modeling outputs into actionable insights through clear visualization and effective communication to stakeholders.

How will you get here?

Education

• B.S. in (bio)Chemical Engineering., Biochemistry, Computer Science, Statistics or related field with 5 yrs., Masters with 2 yrs. of industrial experience, or Ph.D.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities

• Prior experience in modeling applications within the biopharma industry is a strong plus.

• Solid knowledge of statistical analysis and experience applying these principles in a biopharma or related industry setting is strong plus.

• Prior experience with building Raman spectroscopy models for process monitoring and characterization of biologics or gene therapies.

• Familiarity with MSTAR CFD modeling software for advanced fluid dynamics simulations.

• Hands-on experience in upstream and/or downstream bioprocess laboratory environments with flexibility to engage in wet-lab activities to support client's project.

• Strong understanding of bioprocess engineering principles and unit operations, with demonstrated ability to work effectively in cross-functional teams.
