The Transplant Diagnostic Division develops and distributes a comprehensive line of typing and antibody detection products, laboratory instrumentation, computer software, and clinical laboratory services that are used to help match patients and donors before transplant, monitor patients post-transplant, and advance research in the transplantation space.

Responsibilities:

The duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Work with a designated team on development of new molecular diagnostic HLA typing product.
  • Perform feasibility, full scale development, verification and validation testing and data analysis.
  • Validate and record newly developed process and protocols.
  • Responsible for understanding and performing daily testing of reagents for extent, improvement, and troubleshooting HLA gene typing products or related issues.
  • Handle and maintain required reagents (reference samples, assay buffers, and labeling reagents, etc.), laboratory environment and equipment needed to carry out assigned projects.
  • Assist in writing all required SOP's for new products as well as maintenance/updating of current SOP's for existing HLA typing products.
  • Maintain quality records of equipment maintenance, tests, analyses and other relevant data.
  • Actively participate in meetings and technical problem solving
  • Assist in project planning, supervise the progress, prepare and present summary reports

Accountability:

  • Maintain confidentiality of critical laboratory and business data. They are expected to maintain work schedules as assigned.

Education/Training Experience:

  • B.S. in the Biological Sciences is required. Molecular bio degree is preferred
  • Minimum of 2 years of research experience is required
  • Basic course and laboratory work in molecular biology, biochemistry, or immunology

Knowledge of:

  • Knowledge of molecular biology and recombinant DNA techniques.
  • Clear understanding and experience in running polymerase chain reaction (PCR) and ability to design/test primers for PCR reactions.
  • Basic understanding of DNA sequencing.

Ability to:

  • Perform laboratory bench work.
  • Communicate effectively with minimal guidance.
  • Daily transition from laboratory to data analysis.
  • Plan and organize oneself in a reliable and consistent manner.
  • Prepare and present reports to management involving data critical to new product introduction and current process/product improvement.
  • Maintain confidentiality of critical laboratory information.

Working Conditions/Physical Requirements:

Job requires long periods of sitting at a laboratory bench. This position will operate a computer terminal to enter and analyze laboratory data and experimental documentations

Compensation and Benefits
The salary range estimated for this position based in California is $72,600.00-$108,900.00.
