How you'll make an impact

The Scientific Collaborations Director will develop and drive strategies for effective scientific collaboration with our strategic customers (corporate accounts), with the goal of cultivating customer allegiance through deeper scientific engagement. The role supports our value proposition of accelerating innovation and productivity, both for our customers and the Company. We do this through collaborative partnership, focused on solving sophisticated technical challenges across the customer's value chain, from R&D through commercial manufacturing, by using the full breadth of capabilities, technologies, products, and services.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Partner with customers to identify their pain points/ scientific imperatives and develop end-to-end strategies
  • Convey technical and business insight across our businesses, in the context of key scientific themes to strategic customers
  • Establish collaborations that deliver measurable value, both to the customer and the business
  • Partner with colleagues to support an enterprise-wide account strategy, and leverage executive sponsors/ senior leaders to drive relationships with strategic customers
  • Understand biopharma and biotechnology customer value drivers, current trends, and challenges
  • Coordinate and facilitate innovation events, meetings, forums, and scientist-to-scientist working sessions that connect scientific leaders and subject matter experts
  • Use operational excellence tools (e.g. PPI) to drive connections across multiple business units and divisions, to ensure alignment and to create coordinated workflow solutions that differentiate the company from the competition
  • Ensure collaborations are well supported, driven by thoughtful objectives, and implemented flawlessly
  • Collaborate with Corporate Accounts leader and Executive Sponsor to establish effective governance and senior scientific leadership
  • Ensure effective communications with internal and external partners on the progress and impact of collaborations
  • Create a successful, inclusive, and honest work environment that champion our 4i values.

Keys to Success:

Education

  • PhD in scientific field

Experience

  • Minimum 10 years of relevant technical and commercial experience
  • Preference for demonstrated expertise in structural biology (cryo-electron microscopy), bioproduction (pharma experience), or vaccines development/ manufacturing, with a broad understanding and ability to apply broader scientific themes and technologies to biopharma and life sciences sectors
  • Excellent business sense and analytical skills; can quickly assess financial impact and opportunity; Ability to build and present a strong case
  • Strong written and oral communication skills; able to speak effectively about current scientific trends and topics both to technical and non-technical audiences
  • Prior matrix management experience, and proven ability to lead through influence across a cross-functional set of team members
  • Travel (25-30%)

Compensation and Benefits
The salary range estimated for this position based in Washington is $170,600.00-$255,875.00.

This position may also be eligible to receive a variable annual bonus based on company, team, and/or individual performance results in accordance with company policy. We offer a comprehensive Total Rewards package that our U.S. colleagues and their families can count on, which includes:
