The position handles the sales and promotion of the genotyping and gene expression portfolios (qPCR, Microarray & NGS) and associated consumables across Australasia. The Specialist will apply their product knowledge & expertise to successfully promote and sell products and services, while achieving or exceed the assigned plans. This role will also be the primary driver of business development in this market and strive to expand into new business areas while growing current accounts.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Servicing & Handling the Customer Base
- Produce Forward Call Cycle/Plan.
- Collaborate on customer calls either with or without the local Sales team.
- Identify and design strategies for new business opportunities and collaborate with the Genetics Sales Division team to develop new relationships and key opinion leaders.
- Identify Key Accounts in defined territory that will impact and add growth in the territory.
Sales Promotion
- Follow the directive selling program to champion the sales of the targeted products.
- Attend trade exhibitions as required to generate leads and prospects for the company's products.
- Conduct customer specific promotions to encourage sales growth and the development of a positive company position.
- Develop and implement technology seminars applicable to the account research focus.
Product / Market Knowledge
- Constantly develop product knowledge through company literature and other independent sources of technical information.
- Acquire and report information of market trends, promotions and other activities from the market that may further sales and marketing activities.
- Actively take part in internal product training upskill .
Targets / Reporting
- Strive to meet revenue targets each year for the defined territory and be instrumental towards the achievement of the region goals.
- Meet sales targets for specific promotional activities.
- Maintain accurate and detailed customer records (CRM) and forecasts.
- Provide weekly sale reports to be made to the Strategic Business Manager.
SKILLS & EXPERIENCE
- A Master Degree or PhD in life sciences is highly desirable.
- At least two years experience in sales and account relationship management preferred.
- Extensive experience in genomics and molecular biology.
- Strategic and tactical market development skills.
- Presentation skills that can be applied internally and in the marketplace.
- Proven record to be effective in a globally matrixed organization.
- Able to work independently with limited day-to-day strategic direction.
- A strong passion for science, partnerships and collaboration.
