Students will be matched to projects based on their abilities and current business needs. All projects will have significant strategic and/or operating importance to the business to which they are assigned.

Key Responsibilities

  • Follow the policies and procedures defined by the organization.
  • Committed to accomplishing expected program outcomes. Work with mentor to create a high-quality presentation and poster that meets or exceeds standard of Summer Science Program
  • Independently design experiments and conduct basic troubleshooting
  • Maintain a clean and safe laboratory
  • Communicate effectively and work efficiently with team members across R&D to support project requirements
  • Perform other responsibilities to support the needs of the team, as assigned

Skills and Abilities

  • Must be able to independently design and execute experiments, and conduct basic troubleshooting
  • Must have strong time management skills and be highly organized and flexible to meet changing priorities
  • Must have excellent oral and written communication skills, strong interpersonal skills, and be capable of working in a multi-disciplinary team to support a positive work environment
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications
  • Able to contribute to scientific discussions and provide new ideas

Compensation & Relocation: Our Graduate-level Research & Development co-ops offer an hourly rate between $29.00 - $38.50 dependent upon the location you are supporting (aligned to respective cost-of-living guidelines). Additionally, a relocation stipend is offered in the amount of $5,000 if necessary. Student must be located 50+ miles away from the physical location of co-op to be eligible for the relocation stipend.

  • Graduate student completing a Doctorate degree at UW-Madison
  • 0 years of work experience required; previous related internships preferred.
  • Consistent track record of results demonstrating integrity, innovation, involvement, and intensity.
  • Energized through championing change, driven in getting results, and savvy in navigating ambiguity.
  • Excellent interpersonal communication skills with a high degree of emotional intelligence.
