Job Description
Position Overview:
The Research Associate I will play an active role in supporting all aspects of patient preference research projects. As part of the patient preference team, you will participate to progress and operationalize good practice in the elicitation and incorporation of preferences into health-care decision making.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities (other duties may be assigned):
- Performing background and literature reviews
- Assisting development of preference elicitation instruments
- Interviewing patients and physicians

- Analysing qualitative data using appropriate software
- User acceptance testing of data collection instruments (e.g. patient preference surveys)
- Supporting development of client deliverables such as slide decks and reports
- Communication with and management of vendors and research partners such as clinical sites and patient advocacy groups
- Attending client meetings and workshops
Education, Professional Skills & Experience:
- Master's Degree in a quantitative discipline and at least one year of relevant job experience;
- Bachelor's Degree in a quantitative discipline and at least 2-3 years of relevant job experience
- Experience with primary data collection from patients (qualitative or quantitative)
- Understanding of preference elicitation techniques, such as discrete choice experiments (DCE), best-worst scaling (BWS), or MCDA swing weighting
Personal Skills & Competencies:
- Proficient with MS Office software (Excel, Word and PowerPoint)
- Ideally experience with a statistical programming language such as STATA, SAS, MATLAB or R (preferred but not required)
- Ideally experience with ATLAS.ti (preferred but not required)
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Collaborative team member, capable of efficient multi-tasking
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Drive and ambition to succeed in a consultancy
- Confident, comfortable in taking initiative and an ability to work without close supervision
- The ability and desire to learn quickly, be it methodological or industry developments
- Attention to detail
Compensation and Benefits
The salary range estimated for this position based in Maryland is $70,000.00-$95,000.00.
