Join Thermo Fisher Scientific Inc. as a European Dangerous Goods Safety Specialist in our outstanding Transportation & Dangerous Goods Safety Team. This is an outstanding opportunity to drive innovation and ensure compliance in the safe shipping and distribution of goods.
Key Responsibilities:
- Work with line manager to develop, maintain, and efficiently implement a comprehensive plan to ensure compliance with the aspects of classification, packing, marking & labelling, storage, and shipping of dangerous goods.
- Offer outstanding support to suppliers, inventory teams, customer service, marketing, operations, transport, safety, and sales teams regarding regulatory aspects.
- Rigorously adhere to and improve standard operating procedures (SOPs) or work instructions (WIs) for inbound and outbound activities.
- Compile, audit, and amend transport data for goods shipped.
- Collaborate with the Transportation team on cost saving opportunities, onboarding of carriers, and optimize routing configurations.
- Resolve and support training activities for individuals involved in the shipping process.
- Participate in or drive audits across EU sites and suppliers.
- Achieve goals and meet performance targets that are in line with important business metrics.
- Identify cost savings and improvements through Practical Process Improvements (PPI) initiatives.
- Produce detailed reports and feedback to management and collaborators.
- Maintain qualifications for the transport of dangerous goods by road, air, and sea.
- Perform the role(s) and duties of Safety Advisor with integrity and intensity.
- Business travel up to 25%.

Minimum Requirements/Qualifications:
Educational:
- University degree and experience in chemistry, pharmacology, or a similar subject area.
- Qualified Safety Advisor (ADR 1.8.3) (IMDG/IATA useful).
Experience and skills:
- Validated experience in the transport of dangerous goods within a Distribution Operations or Chemicals environment.
- Strong understanding of shipping dangerous goods regulations by road, sea, and air.
- Strong communications, capable of conveying complex information at the appropriate level.
- Self-motivated with a consistent track record of leading continuous improvement initiatives.
- Analytical approach to identify and implement data-driven solutions.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and data management.
- Proficient in French and English. German or Spanish desirable.
- Understanding of European Regulatory Storage requirements and relevant legislation.
