The Refrigeration Engineer for Laboratory Products Division (LPD) will be part of the R&D New Product Development (NPD) team to work on refrigeration systems for new cold storage products manufactured globally.

A day in the Life:
- Develop the refrigeration systems for cold storage products including -86C Cascade, -150C Auto Cascade & Conventional systems ranging from 4C to -40C.
- Analyze the thermal behavior of the refrigeration system to include heat & mass transfer mechanism, fluid flow, and phase change by use of predictive thermal modeling for component selection and overall refrigeration system design.
- Develop specifications for system-level, sub-system, and component performance. Develop and complete test plans to validate the performance of newly developed refrigeration systems.
- Collaborate with the mechanical and electrical engineers in the NPD team for product design.
- Develop refrigeration systems to achieve the highest quality and long-term reliability while simultaneously providing environmentally-friendly product designs and meeting regulatory and certification requirements from FDA, UL, CE CSA, etc.
- Design refrigeration systems for manufacturability at various manufacturing locations worldwide and for ease of service.
- Design refrigeration systems that meet customer requirements, time-to-market commitments, and the target cost of the projects.
- Work effectively with global multi-functional teams during all phases of the NPD Process.
Keys to Success:
Education
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Physics or related technical degree with coursework in thermodynamics, heater transfer, and fluid mechanics; OR
- Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Physics, or related technical degree with course/project work in thermodynamics, heater transfer, and fluid mechanics.
Experience
- 2 years of working experience is preferred. However, candidates with significant course/research project work with thermodynamics, heater transfer, and fluid mechanics but no working experience are also encouraged to apply.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities
- Strong analytical skills in thermal system modeling and design.
- Strong analytical skills to analyze empirical data for the thermal system.
- Strong sense of ownership with projects and work assignments.
- Willingness and ability to work in a multi-functional team environment.
