As an R & D Scientist (Analytical Development) at Thermo Fisher Scientific, you will have a significant impact on advancing pharmaceutical research. Your work will directly contribute to the creation of life-saving medications and treatments.
A day in the Life
- Conduct routine chemical and physical testing of pharmaceutical finished products and stability samples.
- Verify and process analytical data.
- Participate in the validation of test methods for pharmaceutical raw materials and finished products.
- Maintain and troubleshoot analytical instrumentation as needed.
- Effectively communicate the outcomes of work.
Keys to Success
- Perform all duties in strict compliance with SOPs, GMPs, GLPs, and Safety guidelines.
- Organized work area, instrumentation, and testing materials.
- Ambitious and diligent approach to problem-solving.
Education
- Bachelor's degree in physical science, preferably in Chemistry or Biology. Equivalent combinations of education, training, and relevant work experience may be considered.
Experience
- 1-3 years of experience performing chemical tests with chromatographic, spectroscopic, or other analytical techniques preferred.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities
- Good knowledge of chemistry and analytical instrumental technologies.
- Good understanding of quality and regulatory requirements in the pharmaceutical industry.
- Proficiency with HPLC, GC, and Dissolution techniques.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both oral and written.
Physical Requirements / Work Environment
The position involves moving around the office, standing, walking, stooping, and kneeling occasionally. You may need to lift objects weighing 10-35 pounds. Good vision is required for using a keyboard, computer monitor, and operating equipment. Safety gear may be needed occasionally.
