How will you make an impact?
As a Scientist I within our Microbiology Division you will work in our R&D Team in Vantaa on the development of food safety products and workflows. You'll work in accordance with standard operating procedures (SOPs) and mentorship by senior team members, to ensure work is carried out within schedule.
The main tasks include conducting lab work and data analysis according to study plans, and reporting results to R&D Supervisor and local R&D team, as well as sustaining laboratories, inventory and instrumentation.
What will you do?
- Conduct molecular experiment work, including bacterial culturing and enrichments, DNA extractions and PCR studies, with a focus on developing new molecular products.
- Complete and analyze qPCR experiments of enriched food samples.
- Maintain laboratory notebooks to the highest standard, ensuring accurate and comprehensive documentation.
- Provide regular project progress updates to the R&D team.
- Sustain R&D laboratories, handling consumables inventory and ensuring the appropriate functioning of instrumentation.
How will you get there?
- Laboratory technician/Polytechnic/B.Sc. level degree or similar in biosciences, biotechnology, microbiology, biochemistry, molecular biology, or an engineering field.
- Experience working with MS O365.
- Proven knowledge of molecular techniques and methods.
- Basic understanding of microbiology methods, such as bacteria enrichment and cultivation.
- General understanding of scientific instrumentation and software applications related to molecular biology.
- Capability to operate and maintain laboratory instrumentation.
- Proficient communication skills in English - Finnish skills are seen as a benefit
