A day in the Life:

  • Collaborate with software engineers to understand customer requirements and design test cases.
  • Perform test cases for drivers with varying levels of complexity, ranging from simple to complex.
  • Provide well-thought-out ideas for process improvement.
  • Learn and operate scientific instrumentation.
  • Write reports summarizing test execution.
  • Contribute to the execution of automated tests.

Keys to Success:

To excel in this role, you should have:

Education

  • Bachelor's or higher level degree in Computer Science, Physical Sciences, or Engineering, or equivalent experience.

Experience

  • 4 years of experience in industrial or commercial software development or testing.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities

  • Good written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to understand agile stories/requirements and translate them into test cases.
  • Ability to generate test plans, test cases, and test steps for medium complex product features.
  • Ability to work cooperatively in a project environment.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet project requirements and timelines.
  • Working knowledge of QA metrics, various MS Windows operating systems, and current computer technologies.
  • Working knowledge of automated testing tools or industry standard programming or scripting languages.
  • Basic MS Office knowledge.
  • Working knowledge of bug tracking systems such as Microsoft's Visual Studio 2017 Team System.
  • Understanding of testing practices and methodologies.
  • Demonstrate Thermo Fisher Scientific values - Integrity, Intensity, Innovation, and Involvement.
  • Experience with automated testing tools such as C# and Coded UI.
  • Understanding of web services and XML.
