The Thermo Fisher Scientific HPLC business has been setting significant and innovative trends for many years in the development, manufacturing and marketing of instruments and software for High-Performance Liquid Chromatography (HPLC). The expertise of our highly qualified staff is driving our economic success, enabling us to continuously expand our business. Product Management plays a pivotal role on the road of turning ideas into groundbreaking products. We condense customer needs into new product requirements, bring these concepts to life in close collaboration with our R&D engineering group, and maintain our products across all phases of the product lifecycle. To support the rapid expansion of our HPLC business, we are seeking a passionate and committed individual to join.

Product Manager (m/w/d) Liquid Handlers and Automation

We are seeking a knowledgeable and passionate individual to join our HPLC/UHPLC Product Management team. As a Product Manager, you will define, manage, and evaluate innovative HPLC products, contributing to the advancement of HPLC technology and positively impacting markets worldwide. This position reports to a Senior Manager in the Product Management Team and involves coordinating key parts of our portfolio alongside a team of highly qualified and motivated colleagues.

What will you do?

  • Apply your knowledge and experience on defining and evaluating innovative products that drive HPLC development and make an impact for our customers around the globe
  • Own requirements and business plans for new product introductions
  • Lead development projects with R&D engineers and application scientists for the next generation of instruments serving the needs of our customers
  • Coordinate the lifecycle process of HPLC products from the initial idea to the end of supported life
  • Observe trends, analyze the competition, and identify customer needs and opportunities.
  • Build trainings and marketing material together with our marketing team with a focus on data sheets, publications in scientific journals, brochures, content for websites, and presentations.
  • While our main HPLC factory site is in Germering, Germany (near Munich), we also encourage candidates to apply that are based in EMEA working remotely.
  • Travel worldwide to present our products to customers and support the success of our sales organization at approximately 10% max. of time (for remote employees, additional travel time to the Germering site may be required).

How will you get there?

  • Master or university degree (PhD) in chemistry, biochemistry or related life science
  • At least 3 years of relevant job experience in (U)HPLC with an instrument vendor, pharmaceutical industry or other relevant background.
  • Product management background by training or job experience
  • In depth experience with liquid handlers, sample flow in the lab, and automation is a plus
  • Confirmed knowledge of HPLC theory and practice, technology, and markets, as well as consumables, applications and adjacent analytical techniques
  • Customer-centric mentality and the ability to translate customer requirements into business plans and product definitions
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English also speaking at scientific conferences.
  • Experience with documenting and managing projects, writing scientific content and debating those with a high-level audience
  • A skilled collaborator, able to work effectively with teams across different regions and functions
