The business and site

Join our Groningen site at Thermo Fisher Scientific as part of the Manufacturing Sciences and Technology (MSAT) team. You'll contribute to the important work of helping our customers in finding treatments for chronic illnesses and cancer. We offer support for your career goals and use industry standards an innovative technologies like Single Use Bioreactors.

Our facility adheres to cGMP rules; following regulations from health and welfare ministries and internationally harmonized guidelines. It is important to follow cGMP rules and guidelines for the clients' products and site operations. Efficient and effective production activities are necessary for the site's competitiveness. The production process must be highly controlled due to the high value of intermediates and products.

Your role:

The Groningen site is a multi-product and multi-client manufacturing site for biopharmaceutical products across different phases of the molecule.

The MSAT Process Engineer III operates in a complex environment. New customer program introductions demand competitive speed-to-market, customer centricity and quality. Process technologies undergo constant development, so a pro-active attitude and open mentality are necessities.

Technical lead in the MSAT department, which consists of technology transfer across clinical and commercial phases, implementation of manufacturing processes, process validation, and advanced manufacturing problem solving.

Technical lead for site projects on innovative technology and current compliance standards.

Leverage individual and network experience to make well-informed judgments on topics beyond domain expertise, including cost-benefit analyses.

Conduct activities in accordance with cGMP and EH&S standards.

Keys to Success:

The MSAT Process Engineer III in Groningen is a process expert who provides essential insights in science, engineering, and technology. They handle complex problems in internal and customer projects and collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams within Groningen or across the business network.

Education

Bachelor's or master's degree in one of the scientific subject areas relevant to the production of biopharmaceuticals (e.g., Biochemistry, Biology, Biotechnology, Chemical Engineering, Chemistry), or equivalent experience.

Experience

  • More than 5 years of technology transfer experience in downstream bioprocessing; Or
  • More than 8 years of hands-on experience in process development or manufacturing of downstream bioprocessing; Or
  • Skills and experience as deemed equivalent to the above.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities

  • Clear communicator.
  • Data-driven problem solver.
  • Has self-initiative and is autonomous in time management and project management.
  • Comfortable to work with external customers in straightforward projects.
  • Has experience in navigating and managing conflicts.
  • Has self-awareness and interested in developing mentoring abilities.
