The Manufacturing Process Engineer is a critical component for maintaining our Quality Systems and driving improvements through projects. This individual will have the ability to drive resolutions to daily quality issues and lead projects for the department.

A Day in the Life:

The successful candidate will demonstrate high levels of interpersonal and communicational skills as well as provide key examples of project management and process improvement experiences. You will handle a multitude of opportunities to make a difference on daily challenges that the team faces and support process improvement that might require capital investment. The primary responsibilities are as follows:

  • Coordinate and complete the new molding processes, machines, and equipment validation process.
  • Process development, process verification, and successful implementation into manufacturing.
  • Conduct FAT, IQ, OQ, and PQ qualifications for molds and/or equipment and molding processes. Coordinate measurement and dimensional studies. Document results with detailed technical reports.
  • Work to develop corrective and preventive actions on systemic problems for processes in your respective area of responsibility.
  • Provides technical assistance and expertise to manufacturing in problematic situations, implementing corrective action and providing training as the need arises.
  • Interacts with tool room to optimize tool/mold design, providing process input for tool/mold procurement.
  • Establish and maintain manufacturing specifications, i.e., BOM, routings, set up sheets and other related technical recommendations and documentation.
  • Work with and lead projects with Set-up Technicians.
  • Work with Tooling, Quality and Manufacturing Departments to debug and validate molds maintaining optimized process.
  • Identify and implement Continuous Improvement projects and/or general improvement projects. Maintain Open Issues matrix.
  • Drive Safety improvements to promote safe working environment.
  • Participate in internal and external audits and responds to audit observations.
  • Identifies and implements appropriate corrective and preventative actions.
  • Handle the update of manufacturing records such as WIN, SOP, and batch records.
  • Create new processes and or improve processes for Formulations, Filling and Assembly group.
  • Fix existing products and processes to recommend and develop/design engineering solutions to address capacity, cost, and quality issues.
  • Prepare reports and present data to peers, supervisors, and other internal customers.
  • Create and review project proposals and plans with management.
  • Resolve project specifications by reviewing performance standards, process requirements, and customer requirements.
  • Resolve project schedule by reviewing project plan and lead time.
  • Drive Practical Process Improvements (PPI) with a high level of team member involvement and engagement and applies lean methodologies to realize process efficiencies.
  • Facilitate and or lead RCCMs, Kaizens, 3P, projects and or capital projects.
  • Runs project cost, documentations, and achievements to ensure on-time completion.
  • Recommend and coordinate measures to improve processes, quality, and safety.
  • Effectively communicate barriers or issues and obtains needed support for a resolution.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Keys to Success:

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in Sciences and or Engineering preferred.
  • 4+ years of experience in a manufacturing environment or similar (a combination of education and experience can be considered).
  • Experience with ERP systems and a basic understanding of cost accounts and standard manufacturing financials
  • Experience with Practical Process Improvement (PPI) Systems and tools (or similar Continuous Improvement and Lean Systems)
  • Have worked with multi-functional teams on projects of varying levels
  • Experience with manufacturing processes and inter-departmental responsibilities

Knowledge / Skills:

  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office Software specifically Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
  • Strong collaborative skills and the ability to influence others without authority
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Is energized working in a fast-paced environment.
  • Consistent, diligent, and accurate in carrying out responsibilities
  • Displays positive demeanor toward job and others
  • Result oriented and data-driven
  • Understands manufacturing operational flow which includes but not limited to, Formulations, Filling and Assembly/Packaging
  • Has strong project management skills
  • Proactive approach that anticipates needs and problems while creating solutions
