Position Summary:

The Distribution Warehouse Operative will work as part of a team, Handling, Picking and Packing international & domestic orders (including cold-chain shipments) to a very high standard of accuracy, following a hierarchical Safety, Quality and Delivery (SQD) model. You will be passionate about ensuring that materials and products are handled, processed and stored accurately at all times, making sure the warehouse is consistently organized in the safest, most efficient way possible. This is achieved by ensuring that defined procedures are always followed in order to deliver product safely, accurately and efficiently. The successful candidate will relish a challenge, enjoy working in a team environment, at times working to tight deadlines while keeping a smile on their face, helping a business that is dedicated to delivering quality products that help society.

Responsibilities:

  • Report unsafe or unethical practices immediately through the appropriate channels, making sure that the health and safety of self and others is a priority.
  • Handling and Packing of various sized ambient and refrigerated packaged materials/devices to a consistently high standard, passionate about getting it 'right first time', both at ground level and at height.
  • Operation of equipment and vehicles safely to assist in the movement of picking of materials.
  • Warehouse Stock Management activities including goods receiving, stock put away and cycle counting.
  • Performing all tasks to detailed operating procedures or work instructions.
  • Play an active role within daily departmental meetings.
  • Monitor, track and regularly report to supervisor/manager on daily goals.
  • Actively engage in regular performance and development conversations and act on feedback.
  • Understand the performance metrics, safety metrics and practices for the team/department.
  • Update stock management system (SAP) following the completion of allocated tasks.
  • Maintain own training records within company quality management system (MasterControl).
  • Further duties and responsibilities as required by the business and within the capabilities of the post holder.

Minimum Requirements/Qualifications:

  • Quality Mentality - realizing the importance of accuracy over speed, every time.
  • Good collaboration and social skills.
  • Has good literacy and numeracy skills, demonstrates good attention to detail, able to follow written/verbal instructions, record data accurately and is comfortable using a computer, including e-mail.
  • Physically fit (the role requires the ability to lift weights up to 20Kg and be on their feet for 90% of the day
  • Ability to drive a forklift and other mechanical lifting/picking aids (full training provided)
  • Strong housekeeping and interpersonal skills.
  • Takes personal accountability for their daily presence, performance, and efficiency, always exercising good judgement.
  • Is highly reliable and consistently meets or exceeds job requirements.
  • Can work to safety, compliance, quality, and security requirements.
  • technical knowledge of SAP in a Warehouse/Stores environment an advantage.
  • Expected to sign dangerous goods transportation documents taking legal responsibility for their packaging and presentation to the carrier. As such failure to follow the regulations as trained could potentially lead to them being liable for prosecution in a court of law.
