The Chemical Analysis Division (CAD) provides a diverse mix of analytical instruments and associated services to a broad range of end user markets including Safety & Security, Environmental, Food Safety, Energy, Mining, Life Science Manufacturing and Recycling, to name a few. Its instruments are deployed in the field and on the line, in challenging environments where customers put a premium on robustness, reliability and ease of use. They allow them to make decisions where they operate and streamline their businesses. CAD is a complex division with a global footprint, broad product portfolio and diverse customer base.

How Will You Make an Impact?:

The Assembly Technician assembles instrument components, sub-components and electro-mechanical assemblies for our world class chemical analyzers. Expected tasks will include soldering, fitting/mounting, alignment, adjusting and repairs of products. To complete this work, we are looking for enthusiastic, dependable, hard-working, standout colleagues that will make a difference for our customers and fellow colleagues every day. The impact you will have could be anything from delivering products that help a scientist discover a cure for cancer to helping a nurse care for a patient effectively because they have the right equipment.

A Day in the Life:

  • Assembles and conducts basic functional testing on a variety of electrical and mechanical parts and sub-assemblies using work instructions.
  • Participates as an active member of production cell supporting inventory and equipment management.
  • Participates in daily team stand-up meetings; communicating daily challenges and/or ideas.
  • Adheres and promotes regulatory requirements such as Electrostatic Discharge (ESD), work area cleanliness, maintenance and calibration of equipment and work instruction adherence.
  • Contributes to and leads improvement events (such as Kaizen, 5S, Practical Process Improvement).
  • Builds working relationships with co-workers, including employees in other departments (engineering, marketing, etc).
  • Performs transactions in Materials Requirements Planning (MRP) system.
  • Maintain a safe working environment, following established 5S organizational procedures.
  • Reworks and reassembles units based on verbal or written instructions for failure analysis or development activities. Assignments may be complex and non-repetitive. Some personal judgment may be needed.

Education:

High school diploma or equivalent required.

Experience:

  • Required: Minimum of 1 year of work experience in a manufacturing, operations, production, lab setting or related field.
  • Preferred: Soldering experience.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:

  • Ability to work independently and with a team, acting as a self starter, leading team activities to quickly resolve issues that arise.
  • Understands role and expectations, following SOP and company policies, accepting coaching as needed. Does the right thing when no one's watching.
  • Comfortability using computers to input and process information, including mathematical calculations, at a basic level.
  • Ability to perform basic operations in Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing concepts a plus

Physical Requirements / Work Environment

  • Electronics manufacturing setting with personal protective equipment (PPE) requirements including but not limited to: safety glasses protection and closed toed footwear.
  • ISO9000 requirements including ESD and clean work area environment.
  • Prolonged periods of sitting required.
  • Ability to lift up to 25 lbs unaided.
