Position Summary
Are you ready to take your career in Manufacturing to the next level? Thermo Fisher Scientific Inc. is seeking a highly motivated and exceptionally skilled Manufacturing Planner/Scheduler I to join our world-class team in Rockford, IL, USA.
In this role, you will play a crucial part in our manufacturing operations by determining the quantity and order date for products and materials needed to meet the Master Production Schedule. You will be responsible for creating work orders and managing raw material demand. As a Manufacturing Planner/Scheduler I, you will analyze data, make decisions, and troubleshoot problems related to inventory levels, shortages, production scheduling, and capacity. Collaboration and communication will be vital as you work with various departments including Production, DRP, Purchasing, Quality, Material Handling, Shipping/Receiving, Engineering, R&D, Marketing, Accounting, Customer Service, and Bulk/Custom Sales.

Key Responsibilities
- Plan and schedule activities for assigned products/product lines
- Act on ERP recommendations, internal business knowledge, current inventory levels, and product lead times
- Achieve performance targets and objectives to maintain service and inventory levels, while minimizing instances of backorders.
- Develop the weekly Production Plan for assigned work center
- Lead Tier and other metric meetings as assigned
- Determine capacity hours and manage capacity of assigned work centers
- Update standard hours and review batch size on assigned products
Minimum Requirements/Qualifications
To be successful in this role, you should have:
- Equivalent experience in Operations/Business is acceptable; however, an Associate's Degree is preferred. High School Diploma required.
- 2 years of manufacturing or operations experience.
- Effective written and verbal communication abilities
- Excellent ability to communicate effectively with staff at all levels
- Strong analytical skills and practical understanding of business operations
- Demonstrated ability to build relationships across functional teams
- Knowledge of forecasting, inventory management, and production planning
- Ability to handle multiple demands with a sense of urgency, drive, and energy
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel
- Proficiency in ERP systems
- Ability to work independently with guidance from a manager
- Lean manufacturing knowledge and experience
- Ability to thrive in a matrix and cross-functional team environment
- APICS certification and familiarity with Class A Supply Chain certification preferred
