You will lead an internationally diverse and highly motivated team of about 20~30 software engineers which is expected to grow further in the future.

As part of Thermo Fisher Scientific you will develop and grow our software staff and teams to support our digital science vision. You will provide career coaching break down barriers and teams in collaborating with other groups to achieve our vision.

You will play a crucial role in supporting and facilitating the adoption of Agile principles and practices.

Metrios

The Thermo Scientific™ Metrios™ is an automated TEM imaging system used to perfect a TEM or STEM image using innovative automation. The Thermo Scientific™ Metrios™ AX is the world's first commercially released scanning transmission electron microscope (S/TEM) to use machine learning to automate high-quality data collection. Designed exclusively for the semiconductor industry, this innovative S/TEM solution removes the barriers to automation by enabling semiconductor labs to automatically acquire and measure critical dimensions on semiconductor devices during development or in support of manufacturing.

The group develops advanced automation software for electron microscopes, specifically tailored for semiconductor workflows. It also integrates new hardware modules and implements or customizes algorithms developed by internal and external teams. To achieve this, the team utilizes a wide range of technologies, languages, and tools, including .NET, Python, TypeScript, WPF, Jenkins, gRPC, Jira, and Docker.

A day in the Life:

  • Responsible for empowering and developing the software development team within Agile framework. This involves coaching and mentoring team members, fostering their professional growth, and promoting a self-organizing team
  • Working together with your manager and peers based in the Netherlands, Czech Republic, United States and France to align on the strategy of the department and work on capacity and competences of your team.
  • Ensure the agile teams are equipped with the right skills, knowledge, tools, infrastructure, and support to successfully deliver the software requested.
  • Foster a high-performance team by creating psychological safety, positive work environment, promote collaboration, and motivate the team to achieve their goals.
  • Support teams deliver software according to the agreed quality standards and levels and help them to resolve quality impediments.
  • Responsible to maintain team knowledge, contribution and adherence to applicable Company Policies.

Education

  • MSc or BSc degree in Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or another related field.

Experience

  • 10+ years in a leadership role
  • 5+ years in software development

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities

  • Coaching and career development, gathering feedback for performance assessment.
  • A great teammate with good natural interpersonal communications skills
  • Strong analytical and pragmatic personality.
  • Knowledge of agile practices (SAFe / Scrum)
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Strong written and verbal communications skills
  • Proven understanding of software development principles and practices
  • Building and nurture successful teams

Physical Requirements / Work Environment

You will be based in our Eindhoven office and can travel internationally up to 10%.
