Summary:
Facilitate and lead efforts to sustain performance of current systems while working to identify, implement and sustains new improvement opportunities within site operations.
Essential Functions:
- Lead Operational Diagnostics: Analyzes/defines operational opportunities within site operations; conducts detailed operational, value stream and financial analyses, interviews key personnel, and observe operational systems as directed by the Director, PPI Business System.

- Based on assessment of opportunities, create specific proposals for operational improvement projects, including a cost-benefit analysis.
- Create and implement a sustained PPI culture through working closely with staff to ensure all personnel have a deep understanding of PPI benefits.
- Lead projects and Mini T's ensuring desired objectives are met.
- Develop processes and systems to ensure improvements are sustained.
- Maintain projects on time and on budget, reporting to the Director, PPI, managing expectations and risk while ensuring post implementation benefits are realized.
- Provide coaching and support to Site Managers, Supervisors, and other project team members.
- Build relationships with site operations team to understand various departments objectives and priorities to develop supporting improvement initiatives.
- Stay abreast of new developments in improvement methodology and best practices within operational excellence.
- Mentorship and coaching of PPI secondments.
- Work with corporate PPI and other Thermo Fisher sites in the network to harmonize practices and bring in the latest PPI improvements practices (and Technology)
- Promote a safe working environment, report potential hazards, and ensure all direct reports follow Environmental Health and Safety procedures.
- Select, develop, and evaluate staff to ensure the efficient operation of the function. Work with and advise staff on administrative policies and procedures.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Education:
Bachelors degree in Engineering, Sciences or Business (with a focus on Operations Management)
Experience:
Minimum 6 years' experience within the Pharmaceutical industry
Minimum 3 years previous supervisory experience
Experience and training in Lean Six Sigma and OE (Black belt Certification preferred)
Equivalency:
Equivalent combinations of education, training, and relevant work experience may be considered.

Proficiency with the English Language.
Standards and Expectations:
Follow all Environmental Health & Safety Policies and Procedures. Work collaboratively with fellow team members, modelling positive team principles and partnering to meet project and departmental objectives. Carry out all duties within strict compliance to Patheon quality systems SOP's and Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP). Maintain workspace in a clean and orderly fashion. Actively engage in and adhere to departmental systems to maintain a smooth and efficient workflow (visual management, scheduling systems, etc.). Be client and patient conscious at all times. Understand Key Performance Indicators and strive to improve the performance of the team by identifying areas for system improvements and engage in problem solving. Models positive thinking and is open to change, motivating the team to adapt to shifts in priorities and new ways of working. Proactively identify areas for improvement in the execution of procedures. Communicate risks to timelines in a proactive manner. Consistently strives to improve skills and knowledge in related field.
Physical Requirements:
Light physical effort and fatigue. Walks, sits or stands for limited periods. May require occasional equipment operation including keyboard equipment. Lifts light items for limited duration. Typically located in a comfortable indoor area. There may be exposure to mild physical discomfort from factors such as dust, fumes or odours, temperature extremes, loud noise, strong drafts, or bright lights. Use of Personal Protective equipment may be required and may include any of the following: safety glasses, safety shoes, lab coat, gloves, hair net, beard cover, safety apron, respirator on occasionally.
