Able to lift 40 lbs. without assistance, Cleanroom: no hair products, jewelry, makeup, nail polish, perfume, exposed piercings, facial hair etc... allowed, Office, Some degree of PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) required (safety glasses, gowning, gloves, lab coat, ear plugs etc.)

Job Description

This role will lead the in-house teams and third parties to design and implement new manufacturing equipment, upgrade existing equipment, and support the daily equipment maintenance tasks. The Manager of Equipment Engineering will oversee the Equipment Engineering, Process Engineering, Equipment Maintenance, and Automation Support teams to achieve business objectives, site long-term sustainability, and the daily equipment tasks. The qualified candidate shall have in-depth knowledge and experience in commercial-scale manufacturing equipment such as tablet press, coating pan, encapsulator, bin blender, etc. Must have the ability & initiative to lead & participate in plant problem-solving teams, the ability to apply problem-solving techniques, communicate effectively, demonstrate leadership & plan effectively. Interested individuals will work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment & capable to communicate effectively. Work well in a team-based environment with limited supervision and oversite. Individuals will work closely with multi-functional departments such as Operations, Supply Chain, Quality, PPI, EHS, and Finance.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide technical and strategic leadership to the Equipment Engineering, Process Engineering, Equipment Maintenance, and Automation Support teams including both identification and prioritization of projects and routine tasks.
  • Lead with clear strategic direction to the teams in order to develop and implement new and improved processes in our manufacturing facility.
  • Support site objectives and goals in terms of safety, quality, production, delivery, and cost reduction through continuous improvement of the manufacturing processes.
  • Responsible for capital planning, budget development, purchasing, and implementation of equipment-related activities.
  • Continually seek new technology opportunities.
  • Identify and lead technical outside service providers and contractors, when applicable.
  • Interacts effectively with peers, internal customers, and management to achieve desired outcomes.
  • Possess a positive approach and the desire to continuously learn.
  • Identify and suggest initiatives for continuous improvement of process, quality, safety, and efficiency.
  • Communicates proactively regarding activities, progress, issue, and resolution plans in relation to equipment and technical initiatives.
  • Perform work safely and in compliance with EHS requirements.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Science in Engineering, preferably in Chemical or Mechanical.
  • At least 7 years of related experience in the LifeScience Services Industry or related field; pharmaceutical manufacturing environment preferred.
  • Minimum 3 years of management experience in supervisory roles or above.
  • Strong analytical skills and logical approach to solving scientific problems.
  • Shown excellence in customer service skills and collaboration oriented.
  • Ability to work with all levels of employees.
  • Good understanding of Good Manufacturing Practices and Good Documentation Practices.
  • Strong leadership and communication skills. Ability to move between task types and remain efficient, show initiative, good planning, and organizational skills, and look for and pitch process improvements.
  • Computer literate (Microsoft Office, Maximo, Trackwise, among others).
