Position Summary

The Logistics Partner role is pivotal as a direct interface between Thermo Fisher Scientific and our third-party logistics (3PL) provider. Based onsite at the 3PL facility in Nijmegen, this role is integral to the management of aftermarket spare parts and consumables within our Global Service Supply Chain. Key responsibilities include process engineering to support business development, streamlining communication and operations between Thermo Fisher and the 3PL, and enhancing technical and system integration. The role demands a focus on exception management, standard operating procedure (SOP) development, supplier performance, and driving innovation in logistics practices.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Serve as the primary liaison between IES Logistics and the 3PL provider, ensuring seamless communication and process alignment.
  • Develop and refine logistics processes to enhance business development and integrate new logistical requirements, including carrier integration and returns process optimization.
  • Work with supply chain teams to resolve receiving exceptions such quality concerns and unit of measure discrepancies; analyse root causes and engineer long-term solutions to prevent recurrence.
  • Manage the synchronization of inventory records between systems to improve accuracy, utilizing technical capabilities to analyse data discrepancies and devise corrective strategies.
  • Facilitate part verification, ad hoc cycle counts, and coordinate daily accountability meetings to maintain and improve inventory accuracy.
  • Oversee the development of logistics paperwork and technology enhancements to support operational needs and drive innovation.
  • Maintain and enhance supplier performance KPIs through continuous assessment and targeted improvement initiatives.
  • Utilize SAP for reporting, managing inventory accuracy, and coordinating inbound and outbound bookings, while understanding EDI workflows and communications with the 3PL.
  • Coordinate the prioritization of inbound and outbound logistics activities to align with business needs and 3PL capabilities.

Personal Profile

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with a proven ability to establish trust and effective collaborations across various functions (Dutch and English)
  • Strong time management skills, capable of managing deadlines and significant workloads.
  • Minimum of 3 years' experience in supply chain management, with a focus on logistics and process improvement.
  • Highly analytical thinker with advanced proficiency in Excel and general computer literacy.
  • Resilient under pressure with the ability to meet tight deadlines in challenging environments.
  • Keen attention to detail and a commitment to delivering high levels of accuracy.
  • Customer-centric with a dedication to placing the customer at the heart of all decision-making processes.
  • Innovative, open to exploring new methodologies and technologies to enhance business operations.
  • Strong sense of accountability, setting clear expectations and achieving set goals.
  • Be able to work from the Nijmegen site
