The Chromatography and Mass Spectrometry business develops and manufactures groundbreaking instruments, consumables, and software solutions for customers working in the analytical sciences (routine testing markets) and scientific research. We play a central role in various scientific fields, including chemistry, pharmaceuticals, forensics, environmental analysis, and biochemistry, among others.

How will you make an impact?

The role of a Lab Scientist, Applications to provide scientific expertise and support to customers, sales teams, and internal partners within CMD (Chromatography and Mass Spectrometry Division) to resolve sophisticated analytical challenges by applying chromatography and mass spectrometry techniques.

What will you do?

Conduct product demonstrations to customers on the accurate use, product features, functionality, application of instruments and software, following standard methodologies. Understand customer's motivation, success criteria and difficulties and be able to effectively communicate customer feedback to the product development team regarding customer needs, product performance, and potential improvements.

Application Optimization: Collaborate with customers and internal teams to customize applications and methodologies. This includes troubleshooting, method development, and data interpretation. May be responsible for collecting data from customer experiments or field trials, analysing the data using statistical methods, and providing insights or recommendations based on the findings. They should be able to interpret scientific data accurately and communicate the results effectively. Occasionally helps to resolve and/or to bring up customer issues & complaints.

Technical Presentations: Deliver presentations to highlight the capabilities and benefits of solutions for various applications. Effectively communicate complex scientific concepts to diverse audiences.

Drive Collaboration: Work cross-functionally with internal teams, including marketing and sales, to support strategic execution of the entire demo process.

Trainings: Demo chemists will primarily perform product line demonstrations. We will continue to work as a team to fulfil the needs of customers. Specific business needs may require temporary crossover of functions.

Scientific Support: Stay informed about the latest scientific literature, methodologies, and regulatory requirements. Act as a trusted expert to our customers to increase customer satisfaction and loyalty which chips in to the overall success of the business. Provide scientific support and counsel to internal teams and customers and identify improvement opportunities.

How will you get here?

Education

  • A bachelor's degree (or higher) in chemistry, biochemistry, or a related scientific field and/or equivalent work experience.

Experience

  • 2-3 years of hands-on technical experience with chromatography and mass spectrometry instruments, software, data analysis, and techniques.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities

  • Ability to work independently, handle multiple projects simultaneously, and meet deadlines.
  • Outstanding teamwork and collaboration skills to cultivate creativity and contribute to the team's success.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to troubleshoot technical issues and provide guidance on product usage and optimization.
  • Persuasive communication and presentation skills, with the ability to successfully convey complex scientific concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in local language and English.
  • Driving licence
  • Willingness to travel mainly within the appointed region but also through Europe (expected travel time ~ 25%)
  • Be adaptable to, plan for and adopt change.
