Location/Division Specific Information

The position represents an opportunity to join the Thermo Fisher Scientific Cell Biology R&D team in Frederick, MD to support ongoing projects within the Thermo Fisher product commercialization process under the Gibco™ brand.

Discover Impactful Work:

Daily duties will include providing general laboratory support for multiple teams of scientists engaged in the development of new technologies related to cell biology research. Core duties will be in support of day-to-day operations of multiple R&D laboratories, including tracking, ordering, and stocking of inventory, shipping and receiving, and general lab upkeep.

Additional duties may also include coordinating calibration and preventive maintenance of laboratory equipment, managing service contracts, capital equipment procurement, and coordination with Facilities and Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) to maintain an effective and safe lab environment.

Keys to Success:

Education

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.

Experience

Strong preference will be given to candidates with experience working in a laboratory environment. Industry experience is a plus but not required.

  • Comfortable working with computers and basic software packages, including Microsoft Office
  • Highly organized with strong attention to detail
  • Proven ability to multitask to work in dynamic, fast-paced, team environment
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills
  • Familiarity with a biological laboratory
  • Ability to follow all EHS guidelines in the laboratory environment
  • Ability to identify areas requiring improvement to enhance laboratory function, safety, and productivity

Physical Requirements / Work Environment

Majority of work will be completed in a laboratory environment. Candidate may be required to stand for long periods of time while performing duties and must be able to work safely with chemicals and hazardous materials.
