The job:

We are looking for an ambitious Sales Manager to lead our Microbiology Division's (MBD) Food & Industrial sales team for Northern Europe. As Sales Manager, you will develop and drive the territory sales vision and strategy, whilst developing a team of Account Managers to achieve success. You will work to drive growth in new business opportunities and ensure profitable revenue through strong collaboration, business-acumen and strong sales focus.

Your team will be selling a range of microbiology consumables and reagents, with a focus on culture media. You can learn more about some of the product portfolio here: Food Microbiology

This role will be field-based, leading a team of 9 Account Managers spread across our Northern Europe territory (UK, Netherlands, Nordics & Finland (excl Ireland)). Frequent international travel across the territory will be required - up to 75% of working time, including regular overnight stays. Candidates can live anywhere on territory, although our preference is for UK, Netherlands, Denmark, or Sweden. You must live close to an international airport.

What will you do?

Responsibility for the commercial results in the Northern Europe region. Drive to achieve business objectives and high level of customer satisfaction
Preparation and delivery on Monthly Business Reviews and executing on priorities to achieve the sales quota
Development & execution of annual sales strategy per country to achieve set short & long-term results. Prepare and review sales reporting and provide in-depth sales analysis and forecasting
Identification, evaluation & recommendation of national / channel-specific distributors in region. Develop new sales opportunities via new channels and new partnerships.
Regular field visits with sales team to mentor and develop sales team commercial competence
Preparation of monthly and quarterly activity & business reviews of the region
Extensive life science sales experience (ideally 7+ years)
Ideally minimum 2 years proven sales leadership experience, however, we are open to candidates looking to step into their first sales leadership role providing you can demonstrate leadership competence and sound scientific knowledge, ideally with sales experience within relevant industry.
Microbiology experience or any scientific or sales experience within the food industry would be an advantage
Strong leadership competencies for business and proactive customer-focus
Excellent listening and communication skills with ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams
Ability to establish work priorities and handle complex relations remotely
Desire and ability to influence management at all levels (internally & externally)
Ability to be agile and lead through change quickly and effectively
Take appropriate risks to improve processes services and products
Fluent in English

Experience:

Min. 2 years of sales, business development or product marketing in diagnostic market.
Proven experience of delivering results through leading and developing managers and through building and influencing indirect reporting.
Experience in navigating cross-functional relationships in a matrix organisation.

Education, Requirements:
A degree level education is needed, with preference given where degree subject has a strong relevance to our business.
Strong communications, both written and oral, and the self-confidence to use these skills to be able to deliver the vision for the platform.
English: Full professional proficiency in addition to a local language.
Strong interpersonal abilities and project ownership ethic with a "can do" personality.
Travel minimum 75% extensively including to domestic and international markets.

Full clean driving license.
