Job Description
Position Summary:
Join Thermo Fisher Scientific Inc. as a Financial Accountant and contribute to flawless accounting compliance and financial accuracy in a collaborative team. Ideal for ambitious professionals experienced in implementing accounting strategies in complex situations.
Main Responsibilities:
- Support accounting activities such as general ledger, intercompany transactions, and fixed assets during the month-end close process.
- Ensure all reconciliation information entered into the system is accurate, providing awareness of monthly movements.
- Analyze accounting information to resolve discrepancies and determine root causes to avoid recurring issues.
- Approve accounting entries registered in the system, confirming they are supported with accurate documentation.
- Coordinate key calls and meetings to provide collaborator management support.
- Communicate key meeting risks, actions, issues, and decisions to management and collaborators.
- Handle the follow-up process for any open risks, issues, actions, and decisions (RAID).
- Approve complex and critical balance sheet accounts.
- Lead internal and external audits, maintaining strict control over operating procedures and serving as the main point of contact for auditors.
- Provide exceptional customer service by resolving disputes and answering ad-hoc questions through detailed investigation.
- Find opportunities for optimization and continuous improvement of departmental processes through collaboration with other departments and applying proven PPI practices.
- Support supervisors and management in the implementation of established strategies and guidelines.
- Act as a subject matter expert (SME) in supporting teammates through complex situations.

Basic Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in a related field or 6 years of experience in similar positions.
- Experience in Shared Service Centers.
- Strong accounting skills.
- B2+ English proficiency.
- Proficiency in MS Office, particularly Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, and intermediate to advanced Excel.
- ERP experience (e.g., Oracle, SAP, JDEdwards, Mainframe).
- Experience with Blackline or Hyperion (a plus).
- Experience with bank platforms (a plus).
- Experience in SOX Compliance (a plus).
