The Chromatography and Mass Spectrometry business develops and manufactures groundbreaking instruments, consumables, and software solutions for customers working in the analytical sciences (routine testing markets) and scientific research. We play an important role in various scientific fields, including chemistry, pharmaceuticals, forensics, environmental analysis, and biochemistry, among others.

How will you make an impact?

The role of a Field Scientist, Applications is to provide scientific expertise and support to customers, sales teams, and internal partners within CMD (Chromatography and Mass Spectrometry Division) to resolve complex analytical challenges by applying chromatography and mass spectrometry techniques.

What will you do?

  • Product Training: Conduct product training for customers virtually or remotely, in their laboratories, or at another onsite training center on the accurate use and application of instruments and software.


  • Application Optimization: Collaborate with customers and internal teams to customize applications and methodologies. This includes troubleshooting, method development, and data interpretation. Responsible for collecting data from customer experiments or field trials, analyzing the data using statistical methods, and providing insights or recommendations based on the findings. They should be able to interpret scientific data accurately and communicate these results. Resolves customer issues & complaints.


  • Technical Presentations: Create and deliver presentations to highlight the capabilities and benefits of solutions for various applications. Communicate scientific concepts to diverse audiences.


  • Drive Teamwork: Work cross-functionally with internal teams, including marketing and sales, to support strategic execution of complaints and customer training processes


  • Scientific Support: Stay informed about the latest scientific literature, methodologies, and regulatory requirements. Being a trusted guide to increase customer happiness and dedication which chip in to the overall success of the business. Provide scientific support and counsel to internal teams and customers and identify improvement opportunities.

How will you get here?

  • A bachelor's degree (or higher) in chemistry, biochemistry, or a related scientific field and/or equivalent work experience.

Experience

  • 2-3 years of hands-on technical experience with chromatography and mass spectrometry instruments, software, data analysis, and techniques.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities

  • Ability to work independently, handle multiple projects simultaneously, and meet deadlines.
  • Outstanding partnership and collaboration skills to cultivate creativity and chip in to the team's success.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to troubleshoot technical issues and provide guidance on product usage and optimization.
  • Persuasive communication and presentation skills, with the ability to effectively convey complex scientific concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • This position may require up to 75% travel.
