Job Title: Business Development Specialist III

How will you make an impact?

To achieve the territory sales target, and lead the territory within Microbiology budget:

  • Achieve the territory sales target through outstanding sales performance
  • Consider the product group mix as advised by Sales Management to settle best approach for sales
  • Implement the company pricing policy rigorously to ensure consistent sales margins
  • Stay within the territory budget for travel, entertaining, vehicle, and telephone expenses to maintain efficiency and productivity

To generate appropriate levels of sales activity to achieve targets, by maintaining current business, winning new accounts, and selling new products:

  • Spend 4.5 days per full working week with customers to build and maintain positive relationships
  • Plan the territory optimally, taking into account call cycle requirements and optimizing journey planning for increased sales opportunities.
  • Make an average of 12 face-to-face selling calls per full working week to reach a wide range of potential customers
  • Make a minimum of 4 selling calls per full working day by prior appointment to ensure a consistent sales pipeline
  • Arrange meetings with decision-makers and influencers to effectively present the benefits of our products
  • Set clear objectives for each call to ensure productive and successful interactions
  • Actively seek new business opportunities to expand our customer base and increase sales
  • Submit quotations after agreeing on terms with Sales Management to provide accurate pricing information to customers
  • Follow up on quotations promptly to maintain customer engagement and increase the chances of closing deals

To promote at all times, a positive and professional image of Thermo Fisher Scientific, Salesperson, the company, and its products:

  • Maintain confidentiality of company, customer, and product information to uphold trust and integrity
  • Promote a positive relationship between Salesperson, Thermo Fisher Scientific, and customers to foster collaboration and loyalty
  • Attend exhibitions and scientific meetings as required to stay updated on industry trends and meet potential customers
  • Keep the company car clean and tidy, inside and out to present a professional image during customer visits
  • Maintain the highest standards of dress and personal grooming to represent Thermo Fisher Scientific in a polished manner

To report on sales and market issues to Sales Management:

  • Develop a proactive communication plan based on customer classification and discuss it with the Sales Manager in the weekly one-on-one meeting to ensure coordination and effective planning.
  • Update customer records after every call in SFDC to maintain accurate and up-to-date information for future reference
  • Discuss factors affecting sales with Sales Management to identify areas of improvement and implement vital changes
  • Submit information on market issues, trends, and competitors promptly to contribute to market analysis and strategy development
  • Submit expense claim forms weekly to ensure timely reimbursement and accurate financial reporting
  • Exchange electronic mail daily to maintain open lines of communication with colleagues and customers
  • Keep the laptop up to date with all data entered in the approved manner to ensure data accuracy and accessibility

  • The Biomedical Scientist in charge of all PHLS and NHS laboratories
  • Other Biomedical Scientists influencing purchasing decisions
  • Laboratory/Pathology managers
  • Consultant Microbiologists and other clinical staff
  • The manager responsible for infection control
  • The manager responsible for pharmacy production
  • Purchasing managers
  • Finance managers

Industry Sector

  • Laboratory managers
  • Microbiologists and Technicians
  • Purchasing managers
  • Technical managers
  • QA managers

Minimum Requirements/Qualifications:

  • Possess a Bachelor's Degree in Health Science or related field (mandatory)
  • Proficient in English (speaking, reading, and writing)
  • Have proven experience (3 years at least) in sales, demonstrating a track record of exceptional performance
  • Possess strong interpersonal skills - verbally and in writing - to engage with customers and internal teams optimally
  • Demonstrate pro-activeness in identifying and pursuing opportunities to drive sales growth
  • Have knowledge in the usage of IT tools to effectively handle customer relationships and sales activities
