As an Engineer II, Systems Design, you will have the unique opportunity to contribute to the research and development of transmission electronic microscopes (TEM), which are the most sophisticated laboratory instruments used today. By working on these instruments, you will play a crucial role in developing better vaccines, new materials, and more efficient semiconductors.

Join our multidisciplinary technical team, System Integration, where you will be responsible for the system integration and verification of large-scale system products such as TEM Microscopes, Vitrobots, and Arctis Cryo Plasma-FIB Systems. As a System Engineer, you will be the owner of at least 1 Arctis Cryo Plasma-FIB System and handle system planning in agreement with system users and projects. You will also be involved in implementing system tests, addressing integration issues, and suggesting improvements to existing prototypes.

To excel in this position, a bachelor's or master's degree in mechanical, electronics, or mechatronic engineering, or equivalent experience, is expected. Additionally, practical knowledge of designing and testing low volume, sophisticated high-tech systems is highly valued. Proficiency in English, along with effective communication skills, is mandatory, and fluency in Dutch is considered advantageous.

Responsibilities:

  • Serve as the System Owner of at least 1 Arctis Cryo Plasma-FIB System
  • Manage system planning in agreement with system users and projects
  • Build, rebuild, place, and replace microscope systems based on lab/project needs
  • Provide help and training to system users if needed
  • Control the system accessories and gain knowledge if needed
  • Implement system tests or guide others in performing tests
  • Address integration issues and report/discuss with designers/PL
  • Maintain an R&D TEM system in the best possible working condition to facilitate the project

Requirements:

  • Bachelor or master's degree in mechanical, electronics, or mechatronic engineering, or equivalent experience in the field.
  • Experience with designing and testing low volume, sophisticated high-tech systems
  • Proven experience as a system owner or system tester of sophisticated systems
  • Familiarity with hardware and software development fields
  • Excellent communication skills in English, Dutch language proficiency is a huge plus
