Middletown, VA/Clinical Diagnostics Division (CDD)

Job Responsibilities:

  • Improve production line automation OEE within a Value Stream by implementing innovative approaches and optimizing machine performance.
  • Provide technical leadership and facilitate Root Cause Analysis, Focused Improvement, and FMEA to support Filling and Packaging Operations.
  • Collaborate in team design reviews to develop technical solutions that meet customer requirements and ensure flawless results.
  • Maintain effective communication with the project team regularly to monitor progress and resolve any obstacles.
  • Identify, review, assess, and resolve deficiencies throughout a system's life cycle to improve processes and products.
  • Evaluate operations safety, minimize workplace hazards, and recommend new software, tools, or equipment for business goals.
  • Design and/or procure equipment and monitor their performance to ensure uninterrupted operation of mechanical/electrical systems.
  • Coordinate manufacturing launch for new or revised products/processes, including deployment and training of team members.
  • Evaluate and approve drawings, manufacturing instructions, and other documents to ensure compliance and quality.
  • Prepare and manufacture prototypes and participate in design reviews using concurrent engineering principles.
  • Ensure equipment qualification and generate necessary documentation in an FDA regulated industry.
  • Support Lean Manufacturing and Continuous Improvement activities within the assigned production area.
  • Assist Packaging Engineering Team with packaging improvements and cost reduction.
  • Meet individual performance expectations focusing on Quality, Safety, and Delivery.
  • Ensure alignment with Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) standards.

Job Requirements:

  • Hands-on experience with GMP liquid filling, packaging, vision systems, and robotic manufacturing processes.
  • Supervise existing automation processes, making changes to improve production line output.
  • Experience with root cause analysis and familiarity with machining tools and hand-held equipment.

Education:

  • Bachelor of Science in Engineering or related field with 2 years direct experience preferred
  • High School Diploma/GED with 6+ years experience required
  • Proficiency in engineering graphics, such as 2D-AutoCAD and 3D Solidworks, is vital.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office products, including Excel and Outlook, is also required.

Physical Requirements / Work Environment:

Daily presence in a GMP manufacturing environment necessitating the use of designated PPE. The role involves a variety of activities such as sitting, standing, and stair climbing. Physical strength may be required for occasional lifting and/or moving of items up to 50 pounds.
