Job Description

The SQA team is in the corporate IT function of the Automation, AI and Data (AAD). We ensure quality and improve processes at Thermo Fisher Scientific.

How will you make an impact?

We are looking for an outstanding Software Quality Assurance Engineer II to join in Bengaluru office. As a Data Test Engineer, you will have a key role in our organization. Your main responsibilities will include validating, designing, documenting, and performing data quality checks. Moreover, you will collaborate with various teams to communicate and handle more intricate tasks.

What will you do?

  • Support Data analysts by providing prepped and clean data to enable accurate and efficient analysis.
  • Work as part of a team to find trends in data and raw data, giving to data-driven decision-making.
  • Discover ways to enhance report delivery, guaranteeing prompt and efficient communication of valuable insights.
  • Develop SQL views or Queries for use by analysts or various departments, promoting efficiency in data access and analysis.
  • Test all aspects of the product/system, including function/component, system, regression, and service, ensuring detailed performance.
  • Support reporting and analysis functions that enable data-driven decision-making, supplying to the achievement of business goals.
  • Develop system test cases and document results, ensuring the quality and reliability of data systems.
  • Work independently or with guidance as per team needs, demonstrating flexibility and adaptability.
  • Actively participate in the evaluation and review of software requirements with Developers and Business System Analysts to define complete test plans and test scenarios.
  • Ensure that testing activities allow applications to meet business requirements and systems goals, identifying and resolving any issues.
  • Demonstrate expertise in Data warehouse testing, Integration, and system testing.
  • Create and compose clear and concise test summary reports and weekly status reports, offering valuable insights to the relevant parties.

Education

  • Equivalent experience in computer science engineering from an accredited university (desired not required)
  • Bachelor's degree with a major in computer science engineering (equivalent experience) from an accredited university (preferred)

Experience

  • 4 to proven experience in Database Management, generating medium to high complexity SQL queries for QA validation, debugging data issues, and ensuring data integrity.
  • Working knowledge of Oracle, MSSQL, Redshift Databases, AWS S3, and SQL IDEs such as SQL Developer/DB Visualizer/Toad.
  • 3 to 4 years confirmed ability in extraction, transformation, and Loading techniques (ETL) for data in multiple formats from multiple sources.
  • Proficiency in Python programming language, enabling efficient data manipulation and analysis.
  • Familiarity with cloud infrastructure like AWS or Azure and respective cloud storage systems like AWS S3 /Azure Blob.
  • Experience in development models such as Agile or waterfall, ensuring successful project execution.
  • Strong analytical skills, attention to details, and ability to work both independently.
  • Requirement analysis and understanding of DWBI technical specification documents, giving to accurate testing.
  • Ability to analyze and understand ETL workflows, ensuring the reliability and efficiency of data processes.
  • Strong SQL skills, enabling the validation of business rules and the identification of data issues.
  • Experience in backend validation of reports developed using tools like Tableau or POWER BI, ensuring accurate and reliable reporting.
  • Strong experience in data analytical testing and a good understanding of the data model, giving to data-driven decision-making.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced work environment with minimal supervision, demonstrating self-motivation and accountability.
  • Strong technical, problem-solving, project coordination, and analytical skills, ensuring successful project outcomes.
  • Defect tracking till closure, ensuring the resolution of any issues in a timely manner.
  • Ability to work on multiple releases and projects simultaneously and to work in different time zones if required.

Good to have Skills

  • Work experience in Databricks and PySpark is an added advantage, expanding capabilities for data integration and analysis.
  • Experience in Tosca DI
  • Knowledge on Digital marketing concepts
