The Position

In this crucial position, you will have direct accountability for the mechanical crafting of laboratory equipment produced at our Singapore facility. You will collaborate closely with outstanding marketing experts and gain valuable insights from a diverse range of backgrounds within project management, operations, multi-functional engineering, and scientific teams.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop high-tech plastic/Sheetmetal designs with cost, specifications, and timing in mind
  • Design for service, manufacturability, and reliability
  • Support, steer, and empower internal and external mechanical designers (suppliers)
  • Define and specify new designs and drive them to results
  • Conduct FMEA and Safety Risk Assessments
  • Define test plans and strategies
  • Assume a hands-on role in pursuit of testing plans and problem-solving test and reliability work
  • Maintain and ensure systems and procedures are in compliance with ISO and regulatory requirements

Requirements

  • Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent experience with a minimum of 5 years of meaningful work experience
  • Experience in 3-D solid modeling: SolidWorks, Pro/Engineer; direct experience with SolidWorks preferred
  • Familiarity with various engineering materials (primarily plastics and metals) and the manufacturing processes employed in making products using these materials (e.g., casting, molding, machining, injection molding)
  • Experience in conceptualizing innovative and creative designs using strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Proven track record to deliver high-quality product designs with a focus on DFM and DFS
  • Experienced in providing technical leadership
  • Experience in developing requirements, verification and validation plans, and risk analysis
  • Ability to understand and solve sophisticated design challenges both independently and as part of a design team
  • Understanding of CE and product safety regulatory standards
  • Excellent communication, organization, follow-up, and documentation skills
  • Knowledge and experience working to engineering and ISO standards, including ISO 9001: Quality System
