Job Description

The Field Service Engineer (FSE) performs planned maintenance, repairs and other verification/qualification services on a variety of laboratory instruments in assigned territory. The FSE engages with customers and provides basic instrument services in while collaborating with other functions inside Thermo Fisher Scientific.

Key Functions:

  • Provides planned maintenance, repair, installation and qualification services for instruments in the Life Sciences customer segment.
  • Handles repairs and ensures the completion of preventative maintenances at one of our key customers based in Århus.
  • Delivers Field Service and Qualification reports to customers in accurate and timely manner.
  • Collaborates with internal partners and peers to resolve customer issues and improve processes.
  • Maintains their technical proficiency by attending trainings, staff meetings and remaining up to speed on new products, markets, customers and competitors.
  • May be required to perform other related duties when required and/or assigned.

Required Qualifications:

  • Strong analytical & problem solving skills.
  • Mechanical skills and manual dexterity.
  • Stong customer facing attitude and effective communication skills, both oral and written.
  • Strong self-organizing and administrative skills, enabled to flexible and independently work after a training period.
  • Be a team-player, positively supporting to the team and collaborate with sales, technical support and logistics.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Basic technical, electro-mechanical and/or laboratory instrument knowledge.
  • Related Product applications and instruments knowledge.
  • Previous experience working in a clinical, diagnostic, or regulated environment (IVD, IVD-R & ISO).
  • Experience in customer facing role is considered an asset.

Education Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Biology, Chemistry, Biomedical Engineering, or related Engineering/ Science field.
  • Valid drivers license.

Working Conditions:

Frequent travel to customer site is required and ranges from 50-75% of work time. Works both in home office as well as in a laboratory environment. Is required to lift up to 40 lbs and stand for long periods of time while performing duties.
